Historia
In April 1942, Lale Sokolov, a Slovakian Jew, is forcibly transported to the concentration camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau. When his captors discover that he speaks several languages, he is put to work as a Tätowierer (German for tattooist), tasked with permanently marking his fellow prisoners. Imprisoned for more than two and a half years, Lale witnesses horrific atrocities and barbarism - but also incredible acts of bravery and compassion. Risking his own life, he uses his position to exchange jewels and money from murdered Jews for food to keep his fellow prisoners alive.

Very good , not great
Revisado: 04-21-25
I have read better WW2 stories but this was the first romance in a concentration camp. I didn’t know it was a true story until the end which made it better for me.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

85% action and killing 15% story
Revisado: 04-12-25
I can’t believe I wasted so much time waiting for something else to happen other than fighting whites. It was so boring I enjoyed the first book of the 9 books in this series. I could have skipped all the 50 hours and just listened to the last few minutes and would have had a much better opinion. If you love just repetitive fights and killing with very little story or soul or character depth to it then this is the book for you. I enjoyed Dusty’s diary very much but that ended in a good amount of time.

Historia
Beth and her gentle, kind husband Frank are happily married, but their relationship relies on the past staying buried. But when Beth’s brother-in-law shoots a dog going after their sheep, Beth doesn’t realize that the gunshot will alter the course of their lives. For the dog belonged to none other than Gabriel Wolfe, the man Beth loved as a teenager—the man who broke her heart years ago. Gabriel has returned to the village with his young son Leo, a boy who reminds Beth very much of her own son, who died in a tragic accident.

Too masculine for me
Revisado: 03-24-25
Not really a girls book. I found a lot of it offensive to women. I also found it cringe with the authors political stances. I was also offended as a Californian. “Hollywierd, the land of fruit and nuts” just to name of few . I also didn’t like the narrator , he sounds like an old man. I see this author uses this voice actor exclusively, that’s enough for me not to listen to anymore from this author, let alone his machismo attitude. The main characters are named, Fire, Ice and Rock need I say more? .

Not as good as the first book
Revisado: 03-16-25
The narration was worse in the second book than the first. Especially toward the end where I felt like they couldn’t wait to be done and didn’t brother to cut out mistakes or smacking of lips. The second installment was ok , not great. I understand that she was traumatized and was screwed up but the stupid mistakes and choices she made were just aggravating. I think there is a 3rd installment but I think I will skip it.

Historia
Michelle Mays was born into an abusive family in the Midwest. As she and her siblings cling to survival, the balance of family ties is weighed against alcoholism, drug abuse, abandonment, and despair. Hope dawns in the form of foster care, only to be deferred by multiple placements and a system not equipped to support the children it's meant to protect.

Should have hired a narrator
Revisado: 03-16-25
This was probably the worst narration I have heard in the almost 500 books I have listened to on audible. It’s a good investment to make. The story was captivating enough for me to buy the next in the series.

A dissapointment
Revisado: 03-16-25
I was very excited to listen to the first book in this series of Magic books. I first listened to Rules of Magic which was one of my favorite books. This one was by just weak and uninspiring. I was just kind of bored with this one and the characters. After the excellent narrator of Rules of Magic this narrator was just not a good fit and I just longed for the other narrator throughout the book.
