good but for mispronounced words
Revisado: 06-26-18
Love the series except that every book has at least one common word that is mispronounced over and over and it pulls me right out of the story. Gorget has a soft second G - gor-JET - any decent editor should have caught that.
Just like the several ways Hieronymus was pronounced in a previous book, it ruins the flow and is annoying.

Historia
The Master of Natchez, Mississippi has a nasty problem on his hands. Rogue vampires - those who follow the Naturaleza and believe that humans should be nothing more than prey to be hunted - are terrorizing his city. Luckily, he knows the perfect skinwalker to call in to take back the streets. But what he doesn’t tell Jane is that there’s something different about these vamps. Something that makes them harder to kill - even for a pro like Jane.

Please, please get an editor!
Revisado: 04-30-18
Love the story, love Ms. Hvams voice, but the mispronounciations in this reading are horrendous. I got so annoyed by hearing the name Hironymous pronounced a different way every time it was spoken that I couldn't finish the book. There were too many other mispronounciations to count - not only city names but simple nouns and verbs, too.
This wasn't a problem in the first four books - did you fire the producer and editor?
Very disappointing.

Came for the reader, stayed for the story.
Revisado: 01-02-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. It's an interesting subject, well performed.
Which character – as performed by Adam B. Crafter – was your favorite?
Mr. Crafter obviously knows his stuff.. his pleasant voice and calm cadence makes even the more obscure facts understandable - I found myself pausing the book several times to think about what he had just read. That doesn't happen often!
I will certainly continue following his readings.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Stuff you didn't know you wanted to know.
Any additional comments?
I have to admit that I bought this book because I enjoyed Adam Crafters reading of William Banting's Letter on Corpulence, and wanted to see what else he had put out, but after the first chapter, I got totally involved in the story of how we are made. It isn't something I thought would interest me, but now I am looking for more information on this fascinating subject.

Historia
Within the last few decades, several obesity-reducing low carbohydrate diets have come to the public's attention. What few realize is that these are all the grandchildren in thought to William Banting, an undertaker who, in 1864, wrote one short book that launched the first incredibly popular diet for obesity. Banting was immortalized by having his name enter the English language as a verb. Three examples include an Irishman, Captain Boycott, whose name entered the language in the 1860s.

A glimpse into another time
Revisado: 10-17-15
What did you love best about Letter on Corpulence?
This is not just a diet book, it is a historical gem. It was not that long ago that legitimate doctors treated intestinal problems by "washing out my ears, and scorching them". Banting changed his life by changing his diet, something highly frowned upon then - and he was a brave man to want to share his discovery with the world, and to make the effort to do so.
What about Adam B. Crafter’s performance did you like?
For me, possibly the best part of this audio book was Mr. Crafter's performance. I have a copy of the tract, and have read it many times, but Mr. Crafters elegant diction and pleasant voice brought a depth to it I had not found before. It is especially noticeable when Banting describes things that would be common in his era, but aren't generally known now: I would normally skim over descriptions of things like "Rusk" , but this reading made me curious enough to look it up. I only wish Banting had mentioned what was in his "morning elixir"!
Well done, Mr. Crafter.
Any additional comments?
All in all, this is a moment in time, captured beautifully and fully. Things like this are too often lost... I'm glad this one wasn't.

annoying reader..
Revisado: 08-05-13
What would have made Princess Elizabeth's Spy better?
A different reader would have made a big difference... this reader has an annoying habit of ending every sentence the same way; as if she questioning it.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Her speech pattern is really annoying; I tried really hard to get past it, but I never got past Chapter 6, and it was hard to listen to it that long.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I like the characters, the plot was good, and I was looking forward to what Maggie would find out about her parents. The plot twist at the end is a great lead-in to Book 3, but now I am afraid to invest in another book that might have such an annoying reader.
Any additional comments?
I held out as far as Chapter 6, then I gave up and bought the book. I really enjoyed the book, but I listen as I work, so I wasn't able to hear the story. Very disappointing.
