Historia
When a young man is found frozen to death on a Highland street in mid-December, DCI Jack Logan initially puts it down to a Christmas night out gone tragically wrong. But, when a postmortem reveals something more sinister, Jack discovers he is dealing with a cold, calculating killer with a long line of victims, a talent for torture, and a perverse sense of justice.

Again with main characters....
Revisado: 08-31-24
I am, rather was, enjoying this series. I like how much the characters are developed. And the storyline has its usual twists and turns. I enjoy how this is still a series that keeps me thinking. What I don't like is how it has seemed in the last 3 books that a main character is seriously hurt or killed off. I would love to just be able to read a very good mystery thriller. With twist and turns but without always ending up sad at the end. I won't say more as I don't want to give this away. I do believe this is a very good read. one that will keep you guessing all the way to the end.
I'm not particularly sure. I like the way there is an entirely second storyline going on. But then again, I'm not the author and I'm sure there are a lot of readers that may enjoy following 2 different stories in one book. Personally, I feel it is a way just to make the book longer, but I'm sure there is something planned for the future, where this will fit in.
So with that said...On to the next in the series.

loved the story, sadly disappointed in Wheton
Revisado: 11-08-23
anytime I hear of an audiobook with these two combined I will immediately purchase it. in the past I have loved listen to Will narrate books. unfortunately as good as the story was, his narration of this was disappointing. this is the first time I've ever said that about anything he has done and it breaks my heart to say it. I felt like he was yelling through most of the story. when he wasn't yelling, he would get excited and get squeaky. at times it was difficult to tell which character was speaking until I heard the context of the words. it is a very good story and well worth listening to if you don't mind having it yelled at you most of the time.

didappointing
Revisado: 07-04-23
I have been enjoying this series but this book really has me doubting if I'm going to go on to the next book. I am tired of Jim Bean constantly feeling guilty for everything that happens. "oh woe is me" for "this is all my fault.". enough already. The story was just okay. There seems to be a lot of things that a good detective and his partner, Oscar, should have caught on instead of thinking about it and catching on afterwards. And I truly can't believe that the FBI is as dumb as they were portrayed in this book. This sounds like a story that was not really thought through thoroughly but was written quickly in order to get it published. I will try one more I guess and hopefully the series gets better or I'm done.

Story seemed to just give up towards the end as it was too easy to figure out who the Killer was. the narrator was good, not great, but did not distract from the story as far as I was concerned.

interesting story line
Revisado: 12-01-22
I got into this author because they were free on audible. I like the series and it is interesting to be able to see two points of view right up front. I prefer stories that have a twist, there was a very slight one at the end of the book which was interesting. this is a good read if you're looking for a book where you don't get too overly involved in the characters but need something to pass the time.

Better than the TV series!
Revisado: 09-27-22
if you're wanting to see the TV series based on this book, I strongly recommend you read the book first. the story carries you quickly from chapter to chapter. there are some surprises, some you may guess and others you may not. well worth the read though.

Wow! What a great book
Revisado: 05-25-22
I rarely ever give 5 stars but this book definitely deserves it. I was concerned that I would be disappointed by the ending as when I was reading it, I couldn't see how the author could possibly end this to one's satisfaction. Well, he did! I highly recommend this book. Don't let the fact that there is a lot of science information throughout the story - I'm not a big science person but really enjoyed listening to everything in this book. Great writer, great narrator. Highly recommend!

Thoroughly enjoyed these stories. A couple I had to listen to again because the endings caught me so by surprise. The stories are short enough to read them between breaks or to sit and binge them all in one sitting. Enjoy!
