Historia
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.

A little frustrating
Revisado: 10-22-20
I kept listening to the story wondering how was this woman start enough to be a reporter? She missed so many clues and was so frustrating interviewing people. I wanted to end the story so many times but I kept hoping for something that would redeem her. The ending was a nice twist but not completely unexpected.

Wasn't as good as the hype
Revisado: 09-13-17
Overall the performance was great it was the only thing that kept me interested. I skipped over about 4 chapters in the middle and didn't miss anything that wasn't repeated in the end. I was confused on some of the characters in the beginning seemed their looks kept changing depending on who was describing them I thought at first it was a clue into the characters but just seemed like a mistake. I was able to guess almost everything that happened before the end was not really all that surprised.
Everyone is trying to write the new Gone Girl or Girl on a Train. No one is succeeding.

Different
Revisado: 05-31-17
I like the story line of the mother it actually touched on my life a little. But I did not like how naive the main character seemed to be after growing up the way she did. I also didn't like how sheltered she seemed even though she was in her 30's. I can't imagine a woman growing up in the D.C. area and still out of touch with the culture. The story wrapped up to conveniently after all the drama then it was just happily ever after.

Diana Gabaldon’s magnificent historical saga, begun with Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber, continues with this New York Times bestseller. Set in the intriguing Scotland of 200 years ago, the third installment in the romantic adventures of Jamie and Claire is as compelling as the first.

Not as good as it could be.
Revisado: 04-11-17
I love this whole series. I will admit I only became aware of it after the television show. The first two books were well told and thought out this one seems jumbled and confusing. There is too much back story in some of the plot lines. And there was more than once I got lost and had to replay parts to try to get an understanding. I also do not like the way the storyteller does Claire's voice. I started noticing it in book two and it really stood out in this book. Her voice makes Claire very unsympathetic in certain places.

Same old same old
Revisado: 12-04-15
I like the idea of Stefanie Plum in the books. But after so many years and so many books the same premise can get a little tedious. Who will she choose? How will her car blow up? What hijinks are her and Lulu going to get into? Oh and grandma Mazur? What now? It becomes an eye roll after a while instead of being cute. Needs a major update to be fresher I think this is possible without losing the hilarity that was apart of the first books.

Historia
Lizzy and Diesel are back in a wicked adventure from Janet Evanovich and Emmy Award–winning co-author Phoef Sutton. Before he was murdered and mummified nearly a century ago, notorious bootlegger Collier “Peg Leg” Dazzle discovered and re-hid a famous pirate’s treasure somewhere along the coast of New England. A vast collection of gold and silver coins and precious gems, the bounty also contains the Stone of Avarice—the very item reluctant treasure seeker Lizzy Tucker and her partner, Diesel, have been enlisted to find.

Huge Evanovich Fan and Was Disappointed
Revisado: 07-01-15
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, not unless they just want to waste time
How could the performance have been better?
The different voices the narrator was doing were SO over the top. almost ridiculous
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
no
Any additional comments?
First I am a huge Evanovich fan, have read almost everything she has written, and I love the Lizzy and Diesel series. I know you have to suspend belief for some of the story line but a lot of it did not make sense real or imaginary. ***Spoiler*** Lizzy is getting attacked inside her house while Diesel is in her bed, she is screaming his name and he doesn't get there in time to help her! I thought he was suppose to be this big protector and could see and hear all? The dialog fell flat for me in a lot of areas, have a discussion about brooms during a kidnapping, really?! It just was not the authors best, I usually laugh out loud listening or reading her books, and this time I just wanted it to be over. The narration may have played a part in my displeasure the voices were extremely exaggerated, to the point of being cartoonish. The whole book just felt rushed.
