Historia
Viv's career with the notorious mercenary company Rackam's Ravens isn't going as planned. Wounded during the hunt for a powerful necromancer, she's packed off against her will to recuperate in the sleepy beach town of Murk—so far from the action that she worries she'll never be able to return to it. What's a thwarted soldier of fortune to do? Spending her hours at a beleaguered bookshop in the company of its foul-mouthed proprietor is the last thing Viv would have predicted, but it may be both exactly what she needs and the seed of changes she couldn't possibly imagine.

Rick Riordan creates another masterpiece!
Revisado: 11-01-21
I've read the reviews prior to reading this book. I am dismayed by the less than good reviews and criticisms. The people who wrote them believe in what they wrote. For the people who are new looking into this book, you have to decide for yourselves. This story is not an extention of prior series, it is not written in the same style or have any remote similarities. It is it's own unique story. As for me, this book is just beyond amazing! The narrator is excellent!! Rick Riordan has created another masterpiece! How he manages to totally create a new story that is nothing like prior stories is, to me a master of story telling... Why do others have to judge a story based on prior books and the way the new story is created? This story has depth, action, intense scenes and the characters deep inner reflection and inner personal growth and some can't. As in real life, many can't own their own behavior. Many of the situations in this book parallels real ife. With that said, this book is excellent, the characters rich, and the story line fresh. Truly worth the read! If you are looking for a book you can't put down until the end, sitting on the edge of your seat so many times, then this is the book for you! For those of you that criticised this book, style, what it doesn't have and etc., then write one yourselves. I imagine you won't be able to. Mr Riordan, if you read this, please consider making this a series.

spoiler alert new perspective
Revisado: 08-08-21
I too hate the ending, but wow! Many readers just put the book down, many disgusted vowing to never read another book (your loss), many looking forward to the next. My advice, dissect the book(s) until the new one comes out. It helps pass the time until the next one comes and maybe you can guess what happens. Can you predict Donna's fate? I called it for Pierce. Ms Painter has left so many clues in this book as well as the others. Many are so subtle. In the first book she dropped the hint of Kristina 's future when Kristina finds out Donna is vampire and yells at Donna "are you a werewolf too"? Catch my drift? Lest not forget the clue Kristine's boyfriend parents own a chain of restaurants called "big dogs". Get invested in the series this way, it's more fun! Keep a journal and jot down what you find. Did you catch the clue about Artemis's painting reference before the will was read? She blatantly tells the reader when Donna turns in the coins. She practically screamed look for the clues in the books! Speculate, dissect, deduce what's going to happen to Donna and her teams future(s). Unless you're looking for a good, mindless adventure which is very ok too. "Nothing" in her books is casual or coincidental or are they? Here's a mind blower, Pierce gives up being a reaper (subtle hints Donna sees the shadows around Pierce and is told only reapers can see the shadows)makes Donna the reaper, then Pierce is turned into a vampire. She tells Pierce if he doesn't like it and wants to give it up she would turn him earlier in the book. As we are told Vampires can't do anything to reapers, basically untouchable. But she can still be a vampire. Will is the proof. Now, crack the books open and start digging!
