To me this is a novel as much about a narrative of healthy self love, doing the work and a wish for how people could conduct themselves as much as it is a romance novel.

Found myself jotting down many turns of phrase, especially her vivid descriptions of hard feelings…deep despair and rage which are so rarely described with nuance and grace.

Gorgeous word assemblages to invite you inhabitation of a very different place. A post-apocalyptic vision you’ve never tasted. Personally I reread frequently whether to reassess, reimagine or just savor the squirrelly strange ideas.

Really enjoyed the deeply philosophical and comprehensive global-scale near future fiction to play out a thread in of hope amongst all too plausible near future environmental catastrophes

A friend of mine who is a librarian, suggested this author to me. I am so thrilled. Math trances and symbiotic systems such as space craft that are living. A truly remarkable imagination well executed. I may have to listen again soon!

We all have stories and beliefs about ourselves and sexuality in general shapes by our personal experience, cultural and social influences. This entertaining yet study-based book takes you step by step through questioning everything, revealing your options and truth and creating a sense of self-selected relationship and more ownership over your body and decisions about what to do with it.

Some may enjoy it, but I found Sinek's delivery overly theatrical and drawn out. The concept is great - 'start with why', but the this book is heavily bulked up with anecdotal references and questionable extrapolations. Would have been great if backed by some research or market studies. I'd love to pass this information on and would if he could boil it down to essentials- I don't want to waste anyone's time. Just watch the TED talk.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I was hoping for a broader philosophy on raising kids, one that was...surprise...rooted in the tenants of buddhism. I found nothing in it relating to core tenants of oneness, natural unfolding etc. It's more of a personal story by someone who adopted older kids - that's great but I'm not sure her single experience provides the basis for anything remotely close to 'if the Buddha had kids'.

Has Buddha Guides Series #4: If the Buddha Had Kids turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes.

Would you be willing to try another one of Amy Rubinate’s performances?

Yes, the reader was fine. The content was lacking.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Irritation at misleading title.

Any additional comments?

This story is interesting, if a bit repetitive. The main points about Jobs' essential character are repeated, and repeated. The rest is mostly a timeline. Fortunately Jobs himself is a fascinating fixture that made a huge impact on not just computing but the way humans interact with their machines.

I found the narrator's style nearly un-listenable and just had the whole thing play at 2x speed. This helps with the narrators unnecessary dramatic over-enunciation. Someone more matter-of-fact, or just a simpler delivery style would have been much more appropriate, and, well, Jobsian.
