Historia
Stan and Jacqui Winston had a good life. Two good jobs, two healthy kids, and a three-bedroom bungalow. Stan, however, had a gambling problem, and while he told Jacqui he was through with it, he managed to sneak out from time to time. While on vacation in Florida, a random quarter would change their lives. Stan hit the jackpot, but the resort owner couldn’t pay. Old and tired, the owner agreed to sell the motel at a discount to settle the debt. Little did the Winstons know that owning the Flamingo Inn was the exact opposite of the “deal of a lifetime” they thought it was.

Cute story
Revisado: 01-21-22
it was a cute story but not very well performed. The narrator spoke too fast and I had to slow it down to enjoy it at all.

Historia
In 1960, Billie Valentine is a young housewife living in a sleepy Massachusetts suburb, treading water in a dull marriage and caring for two adopted daughters. Summers spent with the girls at their lakeside camp in Vermont are her one escape - from her husband's demands, from days consumed by household drudgery, and from the nagging suspicion that life was supposed to hold something different. Then a new family moves in across the street. Ted and Eva Wilson have three children and a fourth on the way, and their arrival reignites long-buried feelings in Billie.

Beautiful and Tragic
Revisado: 09-13-18
This book was, as most love story's are, both beautiful and tragic. The characters are deep and well developed. I did enjoy the narration, however, the reader needed to vary her voice a bit more between characters.

Historia
In 1915, Sherlock Holmes is retired and quietly engaged in the study of honeybees in Sussex when a young woman literally stumbles onto him on the Sussex Downs. Fifteen years old, gawky, egotistical, and recently orphaned, the young Mary Russell displays an intellect to impress even Sherlock Holmes. Under his reluctant tutelage, this very modern, twentieth-century woman proves a deft protégée and a fitting partner for the Victorian detective.

Historia
Nouwen uses the cup as a metaphor to articulate the basic postures of the spiritual life: holding, lifting and drinking. The cup is a powerful image in our human experience. We use cups in our celebrations of a variety of events. Nouwen reminds us that we also use the cup as a symbolic vessel—for sorrow, joy, blessings, salvation.

Would you consider the audio edition of Can You Drink the Cup? to be better than the print version?
I love listening to Henri's words... Even though it is not his voice, his writing style is so conversational, it is like sitting a room with him talking just to you.

Historia
Each day we face a barrage of images and messages from society and the media telling us who, what, and how we should be. We are led to believe that if we could only look perfect and lead perfect lives, we'd no longer feel inadequate. So most of us perform, please, and perfect, all the while thinking, What if I can't keep all of these balls in the air? Why isn't everyone else working harder and living up to my expectations? What will people think if I fail or give up? When can I stop proving myself?

Brilliant Author
Revisado: 05-21-12
Would you consider the audio edition of The Gifts of Imperfection to be better than the print version?
Brene Brown is one of my favorite female authors. Her books are insightful and hearing the ideas outloud just brings them home all the more.
What other book might you compare The Gifts of Imperfection to and why?
Pema Chodron's books are similiar in that they talk about leaning into life's vulnerablities and uncertainties.
