I LOVE THIS SERIES
Revisado: 02-16-19
I am LOVING this series more than words can say. I accidentally started with book 5 and when I finished it realized I had read part of a series out of order so I came back to the beginning to read book one! This book was amazing although fantastical. Totally worth the read. Totally worth the credit. I can't put the series down. There is a free preview of the second book at the end of this book. I love the Gray Man character. He might be an assassin, but he's so lovable! His heart it was what makes you love him. The author's website says "Sony is developing the film adaptation for the series debut, The Gray Man." Super excited!!!

Hilarious
Revisado: 02-16-19
I purchased this book when it was on sale for around $5 and it was totally worth it! I was hesitant about purchasing a superhero book but it is the complete opposite of the stereotype. It is completely hilarious and not your normal super hero novel at all. The narration is good, the story is funny, and the book will make you happy when you listen to it. It's cheesy, but in a good way. If you are a hardcore superhero fan and want something like Marvel or DC with Iron Man or Captain America or something like that, this isn't for you. If you don't mind laughing at a superhero spoof, this is DEFINITELY for you.

AH-MAZ-ING
Revisado: 01-07-19
Holy cow. This book is amazing!! It’s well researched, riveting, and has great twists and turns. I didn’t know this book was number 5 in a series until I finished the book and audible suggested the others! Now I’m going to start at the beginning and read them all. I’m hooked!! Not having read the other books in this series was not a problem. This book could easily stand alone. I highly recommend reading it if you like stories like Jason Bourne, James Bond, military, or black ops. The narration was great and paired well with the main character. A little predictable but with great twists so you probably won’t guess the exact ending even though you can see where the path is heading. The main character is special as all main characters are but no so sensationalized as to be unbelievable. I researched the author after I finished reading this book and his website says the right have already been bought to make into a movie! I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series and seeing any movies/tv shows they make based off this series.

Very interesting, unfulfilling ending
Revisado: 01-07-19
I loved this book. It was such a mind blowing recreation of a world that even though completely different, seems possible. The exposition of how it came to be happens about halfway through the book. I was mesmerized once I started reading and couldn’t stop. I didn’t realize the book was written in 1985 until after I was done reading the book. I won’t give any spoilers, but the ending left me wanting more. I have not watched the tv show that was made from this book. I wanted to read the book first. I’m guessing that the reason the author is now writing a sequel to come out towards the end of 2019 is because of the success of the tv show. I’m hoping the next book or the tv show leave me with a better ending!

Horrible male narrator ruins the book
Revisado: 07-14-18
Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot. I LOVE this series but all of a sudden a male narrator was thrown into the mix. He is supposed to be reading for Adam for the chapters that are from Adam's perspective but it is AWFUL. Lorelei King has rocked this series on her own for 9 previous books and always done an AMAZING job on all of the characters including the male characters. I was taken aback and actually had to stop listening for a few weeks until I could bring myself to endure the male narrator. I don't want anyone to lose their job, but he completely ruined this book. His voices are nothing like Lorelei King's and it's extremely hard to tell the difference between his characters. When Lorelei narrates you don't need to hear "Adam said" or "Mercy wondered" you know exactly who is talking because her voices are so unique for each character. This new narrator, George Newbern, narrates with such similar voices that you need him to tell you who is saying the phrases. And don't get me started on his accents, or should I say lack there of. Stefan is my absolute favorite character. He has a pretty decent role in this book and he was completely ruined by the male narrator. Lorelei only does the voice of Stefan once or twice because Stefan's character is with Adam for the greater part of the book. I couldn't handle Newbern massacring my favorite character. It was brutal to listen to.
Please, please, please if the producer or casting agent reads these views do not let anyone narrate these books except Lorelei King. I am praying that the next book in the series will only be Lorelei narrating so us readers can once again enjoy the characters we have come to know and love. One of the best things about these books is watching them unfold in your mind. For nine books we've had the same voices for the characters and those are the voices that belong with the characters. Changing the voices, especially changing them for the worse, ruins the mental movie playing in your imagination.
My awful review is for the male narrator only. Lorelei rocks it as always and the writing is great. New characters are introduced and the imagination of Briggs never ceases to amaze me. I love this series and watching the characters grow. I can't wait for the next book!

Love this series
Revisado: 07-01-18
I love this series. Patricia Briggs imagination fascinates me and I wish I could write and create stories like she does. Lorelei King brings the characters to life and her narration is the cherry on top of this ice cream sundae series. You can read these novels stand alone as Briggs will give you important details when you need them but it is much better to read the entire series. Trust me, it's worth it. You can see everything taking place in your mind with the incredible detail Briggs gives and you don't need to hear "Adam said" or "Mercy asked" to know who is talking. King's narration is so good you can tell all of the characters apart simply by her different voices. I look forward to reading the next book in this series and can't wait to see what Mercy gets into next.

Maybe it was the Shenanigans gift certificate that put her over the edge. When children's librarian and self-professed nice girl Jane Jameson is fired by her beastly boss and handed $25 in potato skins instead of a severance check, she goes on a bender that's sure to become Half Moon Hollow legend. On her way home, she's mistaken for a deer, shot, and left for dead.

Interesting but eh
Revisado: 07-01-18
This book was interesting and I generally like supernatural stories but this story just didn't captivate me. It was predictable even though it tries for large surprises. I'm not sure if I will read the next book in the series. The narration was good but if you don't like the southern accent then this book isn't for you. Maybe that's part of what drove me crazy? I don't know. I just couldn't really get caught up in this book. I listened to it and mostly enjoyed it but it just felt like there was a little something missing. I'm still giving it a good review because overall it was a decent book with good narration.

United Nations Special Operations Command sent an elite expeditionary force of soldiers and pilots out on a simple recon mission, and somehow along the way they sparked an alien civil war. Now the not-at-all-merry band of pirates is in desperate trouble, again. Their stolen alien starship is falling apart, thousands of light years from home. The ancient alien AI they nicknamed Skippy is apparently dead, and even if they can by some miracle revive him, he might never be the same.

Love them
Revisado: 04-18-18
Love this book just like I love all the other books in this series! This series is my favorite, I think, that I have ever read. The interaction between Joe and Skippy makes the book as always but I think what really makes the book is the narrator, R.C. Bray. His voice fits perfectly as the military sgt with a tender heart and yet he does skippy the super intelligent AI a*hole amazingly as well. He has great range and I have actually started reading other books with him as the narrator because I think he is such a great narrator. When I recommend the series to friends I always tell them to get the audio book because I do not think the series would be as good just reading it. I highly recommend this entire series and strongly suggest starting with book 1 if you’re wanting to read this book. While there’s always a few paragraphs of recap sprinkled in here and there so people wouldn’t be totally lost, it just wouldn’t be as good to start here instead of at the beginning. Worth the credit hands down!

Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

So much fun!
Revisado: 04-18-18
Overall I absolutely loved this book! It was a new twist on the supernatural and had a lot of types I had never heard of before. I wasn’t crazy about the two narrators because then you know Jillian’s love interest right away because why would someone other than her love interest be narrating half the book? I think if it would have been just the female perspective there would have been a little guess work for the first few chapters. I think the reader can figure out Bael’s shifter form very quickly even though it takes Jillian a while. Also, having two narrators doing Louisiana accents made for the same character having a different accent. But I’m being picky. The book is great. I can’t wait for the next in the series! I listened to the book as part of the romance package and it’s worth it!

They say Paris is always a good idea.... You know what I say? Paris would be a much better idea if I spoke the dang language. I can't even board the metro to visit the Louvre without ending up at the Moulin Rouge, and let's not even mention how I'll ever make it through a day at my new office. Fortunately my company hooks me up with my own personal translator. Ooh la la. Or should I say bloody hell? Because he's charming, witty, and British, and he brings the city to life for me.

Everyone loves an accent
Revisado: 04-10-18
If you love accents, which most people do, you’ll love this book. British and French abound with an American exploring Paris. I loved this book because I love traveling and languages and it’s a dream to be in a new place, learning a new language, and meeting new people. I also love that the heroine is a scientist working her way to the top of her field. She doesn’t need a man to save her but she enjoys the company of a partner. Spoiler: It bugs me that the end of every romance novel the characters get engaged. Yes, I know it makes a happy ending but just the characters ending up together was a great ending. That’s just a personal pet peeve and doesn’t stop me from reading all these fun books. I still recommend this book and love that it is set in France.
