Took a bit

Well this was better than expected. Still the problem of pulling all of the threads and characters together was a lot of info dumping. Then the pace picked up. My problem is that with all the up front info dump the story skipped right past some of the most anticipated content of negotiations with the senior species. Still a good ending except for the abrupt cut off for a cliffhanger.

Fantastic Long Epilog

I love this series and have every last story. This is not at the same exciting thrill ride level as all of the other stories. It is a little slow, but it touches all of the fabulous characters and tidies up many loose threads. If you love the characters and want to know how everything lands, according to the author, this is for you.

Fabulous story, just incomplete. This is turning into a trilogy our larger set. The story is wonderful. I wish there was more detail. But I like it.

Flighty science and crisp characters

Timothy Zahn has created a whole new world in a single ship. This is a good start. Looking forward to the next book.

An epic that will charm your mind

It is very refreshing to have a great story that begins and ends in one book. The characters will become your friends and the mysteries will challenge your mind. I can see now why so many people love this work as I now do myself.

Extremely long winded expositions

The first half of the book is long boring rants about what happened and poor Joe. One small promise of something new and then ignored till literally the last few pages. Horrible cliffhanger ending on a rediculously sour note. The voice acting is amazing I just wish the story was still fresh and interesting. I doubt I will continue to future books.

Dang it get on with the story

At this point I am in for the count. But I am really disappointed with this book. I have waited almost a year to get it. The author promised that we would finally get some answers to questions asked in book 1. But no. This is a rinse and repeat of the last four books. First something wrong with Joe's authority. Second an assignment of some sort of oversight. Next short mission gets a massive save the world glitch that undoes the last book's solution. Then an impossible set of missions. A challenge to Skippy's beliefs. Joe gets no love or sex. We make fun of that for a time. Introduce new big baddy. Resolve current impossible stuff leaving earth semi safe and Joe and Skippy are queued up for the next book. No answers, no resolution, no reveals, just video-game style plots of boss fights. There is so much potential for interesting series here but we never get out of the video game plot loop to explore and the arms race of bosses is getting rediculously out of control.

A fun spin on the time

Enjoyable book. I grabbed it by chance but am glad I did. If you have read and studied time travel the are lots of fun nods to most of the genre. The end is satisfying with a small laugh.
