Historia
Holly owns the merriest holiday shop on Main Street. But right next door is the hardware store run by Declan Gallagher, the grinchiest man in all of Mistletoe, Idaho. With Christmas fast approaching, the small-town rivals engage in an all-out prank war, sending each other not-so-friendly season’s greetings. But when Holly’s ambitious plan to win the town’s Festival of Lights falls apart, she has no one else to call but her handy sworn-nemesis.

Really cute
Revisado: 01-03-23
It’s a cute, romantic, holiday story. I liked Holly’s zest for life. It surprisingly has curses in it. Didn’t expect that but didn’t bother me. But I mention it, in case that triggers folks. I also felt like it kind of dragged on at the end. It probably could have ended 1 or 2 hours sooner. Not boring but it could have ended sooner. All-in-all, I would recommend it.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

I enjoyed this book. There are a few bad reviews based on the performance but I thought she did just fine! She wrote the book and this is how she talks. It helped me understand her and her dry humor. I was triggered by the eating disorder (the purging specifically). I recommend it.

Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

Revisado: 11-14-22
This was such a good book! I enjoyed all the characters. The story was good. I went into it thinking it was going to be very Prince and the Pauper-ish and it wasn’t! And I liked that about it. Gracie was so funny and very relatable. I gave the Story portion 4 stars because it definitely could have been a few hours shorter. You’ll love it.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Historia
It began in a women's club in London on a February afternoon. A discreet advertisement in The Times, addressed to "Those who Appreciate Wistaria and Sunshine..." lures four very different women away from the dismal British weather to San Salvatore, a castle high above a bay on the sunny Italian Riviera. There, the Mediterranean spirit stirs the souls of Mrs Arbuthnot, Mrs Wilkins, Lady Caroline Dester, and Mrs Fisher, and remarkable changes occur.

Revisado: 04-18-22
I really don’t understand why this book has so many five star reviews. This was a time when it seemed like women were just created to be looked at. Pages and pages of the book was devoted to Lady Caroline’s beauty. It was like beating a dead horse. We get it, we get it! I thought I would at least find comfort in the beauty of where they were staying for the month but alas. I didn’t feel the magic of Italy at all (but that won’t stop me from ever going-lol). I think it was because the ladies messed it up for me. For me, this book does not live up to all the hype. I had to increase the speed just to get through it. Mr. Wilkin’s came to more or less network. Frederick came because he wanted to see Lady Caroline! Not his wife! And the way they treated the people who worked at the house…ugh! I enjoyed Lottie but it did annoy me when she invited her husband to come and stay with her after ONE DAY! Mrs. Fisher just took out her annoyance on everyone…well, the other ladies. When the men showed up, she treated them with more respect than the ladies she had been with for a couple of weeks already. I guess at the very end she realized what she was missing in her life. That was sweet. I do not recommend.

Historia
Mandy, Emma, and Jill are as close as three sisters who live hundreds of miles apart can be. They grew up together on Nantucket, but Mandy is the only one that stayed. The girls are stunned when they learn about the restaurant, Mimi's Place, and the condition their grandmother added to the will, leaving the restaurant equally to Mandy, Emma, and Jill - and also to Paul, the chef for the past 12 years, and Emma's first love.

A Whole Lot of Nothing
Revisado: 02-08-22
This book was a lot of fluff. Sometimes that is what a person needs to take their mind off of something but this wasn’t great. The three sisters find out they now own a restaurant. Two of the sisters find out information that would be absolutely devastating and they just kind of took it. “It just felt like they went, “Oh okay.” It was a lot of the same thing over and over. I couldn’t even tell the characters apart sometimes unless the narrator actually said who said what. They all sounded the same. Pass.

Historia
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.

There was so much build up and a lot of suspense. Usually when books to add so much fluff it’s annoying. When I found out who the murdered was…let’s just say, what a twist. I was impressed in how the author was able to interlace them lives of these strangers! I recommend it.

Revisado: 09-04-21
I enjoyed this listen. Annie is funny. A quick thinker. Isn’t afraid yo say it how it is and is good at her job! Her friends are so loyal. Always had her back. Love them. Her sister is very kind. The performance was great. Some sentences were delivered weird…but that is definitely a ME thing.
Quick spoiler. STOP reading if you don’t want to know random things about the story.
Annie got so down in the dumps over Sam and stopped all contact with him. He had no idea what was happening. I felt like that was a bit extreme for the Annie that we were getting to know. What was the point of even bringing in her dad into the story and her extended family. They were absolutely awful and didn’t add anything. Maybe just to show how Sam was so honest and blunt?
All-in-all, a good story! Very enjoyable. I recommend it.

I enjoyed the book and would recommend.
There were so many characters so in the beginning I was a bit confused. But of course, once you get to know them, you’re good. There was a bit of fluff sometimes. Some parts of the story could have gotten to the point quicker. But this was probably the author’s way of throwing off the reader. The twist at the end was definitely unexpected. Nothing pointed to that person. It did keep me in suspense. A bit of a trigger: there is a small mention of sexual abuse. Small in that it doesn’t go on and on. But I figured I would mention it. All-in-all, the book was good. G
