What made the experience of listening to Winds of Evil the most enjoyable?

I read all of the Napoleon Bonaparte mysteries aboard the USS Intrepid in the Gulf of Tonkin in 1968-69. The library had them all. SInce then I've tried to acquire the books to re-read them -- but they are just too pricey and most are out of print.

Along comes Audible and solves my problem. I've been listening to a mystery or so a month, and they seem to be better in the voice of narrator Peter Hosking. I feel I'm right there in the bush in those days of yore.

It's hard to rate these mysteries any lower than 5 stars. The author's capacity for description, his mixture and conflicts of aboriginal and european mentalities, the very human elements in the plots, and the wonderful way in which we are carried along to the conclusion of the mysteries -- all are just wonderful.

Winds of Evil --- 5 stars. Excelent plot, wonderful caracters and the prevalence of the wind throughout the story line is wonderfully balanced, and dosed out in the right proportions.

Better listening than reading, I think.

Congrats, Audible. Come along again!
