I didn’t think there was a way out. Many churches and individuals now affirm the gay Christian life and cheer-on LGBTQ Pride. But what if the LGBTQ life isn’t the party - for our neighbors, loved ones, or ourselves - that the world says it is? What if these valuable people are in pain? Pain that sex and Gay Pride won’t heal?

Difficult Narration/Good Story
Revisado: 07-20-21
I downloaded the book to try to understand the struggle someone with same sex attraction goes through. The first chapter is about the author's struggle. The remainder of the book is the author's teaching on the subject. Although that teaching may be helpful to those in the lifestyle, it wasn't the reason I had bought the book.
The narrator is VERY difficult to listen to. I decided not to finish the book because he was so hard to listen to.

Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

Glad it was free
Revisado: 11-05-19
I was glad this was a free Audible original as I wouldn't want to know I paid for it. The author was caught up by the story of Alaskan native, Teddy Kyle Smith. Smith rose to semi-stardom as an actor, but his life spiraled out of control, apparently due to alcohol abuse. He was eventually convicted of attempted murder.
Smith's life never resembled a life that would make anyone feel enchanted by it. He fell far short of becoming legendary. As in all other cases of alcoholism, his caused the heartache of many of his friends and family members. He became egotistical, self centered, and mentally unbalanced. That imbalance nearly cost the lives of at least two innocent people. As his story ended, I was left completely unimpressed by him.
The author, James Dommeck, Jr, was equally unimpressive. There is a warning that the audio will include "adult language." What it didn't say is that the f-word will be used by Dommeck often and without adding any literary value to the overall piece. None. It wasn't funny. It wasn't cute. it didn't make it any more real. It just seemed to suggest that Dommeck's vocabulary is far more limited than his peers.

Historia
On a beautiful summer afternoon in 1998, Dan Stephens, a 22-year-old canoeist, was leading a trip deep into Ontario's Quetico Provincial Park. He stepped into a gap among cedar trees to look for the next portage - and did not return. More than four hours later, Dan awakened from a fall with a lump on his head and stumbled deeper into the woods, confused. Three years later, Jason Rasmussen, a third-year medical student who loved the forest's solitude, walked alone into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness on a crisp fall day.

Great story told in the present tense
Revisado: 06-27-19
Gripping story of two separate lost hikers. I'm not sure why the author decided to tell the story in the present tense, which was a little distracting to me. The narrator was superb.

Historia
The voice that spoke the cosmos into existence is the same voice that parted the Red Sea and made the sun stand still in the midday sky. One day, this voice will make all things new, but it’s also speaking to you now! That voice is God’s, and what we’ve learned from Scripture is that He often speaks in a whisper. Not to make it difficult to hear Him, but to draw us close. Sure, in ancient times and in mysterious ways, God spoke to His people, but is He still speaking now? Mark Batterson certainly believes so. And he wants to introduce you to the seven love languages of God.

Not a critical consideration of the topic
Revisado: 06-12-19
I bought this book because our Sunday School class is beginning to study it. I had hoped it would be a thoughtful, critical review of the topic. It is not. It is filled with illustrations that support what the author believes to be true. The author does not walk through the topic to give a balanced view. If one begins with all of the assumptions that the author begins with then this would be a good book.

I loved that this book was read by the author. It made connecting with her so much easier. Elizabeth Smart's story was an horrible account. However, she tells it worth sensitivity and even humor. I found it incredibly inspirational.

Historia
On account of the superficial points of agreement between Islam and Christianity, many don't see how tremendously deep the divides between them really are, and fewer still have considered the evidence for each faith. How is jihad different from the Crusades? Can we know the life of Jesus as well as the life of Muhammad? What reason is there to believe in one faith over the other, and what difference can the Gospel really make?

For Those Who Think Objectively
Revisado: 08-20-16
Any additional comments?
This book is a surprisingly comprehensive comparison of Islam and Christianity. Qureshi deals carefully and compassionately with seemingly every topic that a Muslim might be considering as he or she compares the two faiths.
Drawing from his own experience, Qureshi walks the reader through an objective investigation of both the Christian and Muslim faith. His goal is to use the same criteria to measure each faith's claims, so that the reader can make an informed decision on the reliability of these two faiths. If you consider yourself an objective, fair thinker, then you will benefit from reading this book. I learned many things about my faith that I had previously not known. This is a solid piece of work.

Historia
Almighty is His Name is the riveting story of God's hand of protection as missionary, SoPhal Ung, and his family fought for their lives in Cambodia. Although the Vietnamese invaded Cambodia in 1979, SoPhal started a house church, which grew from five members to 600 in eight months. He was arrested for this "illegal" activity, imprisoned, severely beaten, and chained by hand and foot, losing 75 pounds in the terrible ordeal. God miraculously spared his life on numerous occasions.

An Inspirational Account of a Horrible Time
Revisado: 05-07-16
Any additional comments?
The opening scene of this book takes place at the controversial Toronto Blessing, of which I am highly suspect. I will admit that this made me a cautious about the book itself. However, guilt by association is not a good thing, and I continued with it. I am very glad that I did.
This book contains many amazing accounts of God moving among His people in Cambodia during some of the most evil times of that country's history. Some stories of God's work might seem nearly unbelievable. However,I've read many missionary accounts and stories of Christians who persevered under persecution, and found that the stories contained here were consistent with many that have been told elsewhere.
I highly recommend this book. It has inspired me.

I've listened too many missionary accounts. This story was well narrated. However, the story itself seemed to bog down in details that didn't matter. Still, I found the story inspiring. I recommend it.
