Historia
As the day dawns on the fiftieth annual Hunger Games, fear grips the districts of Panem. This year, in honor of the Quarter Quell, twice as many tributes will be taken from their homes. Back in District 12, Haymitch Abernathy is trying not to think too hard about his chances. All he cares about is making it through the day and being with the girl he loves.

Intense
Revisado: 03-21-25
I chose the Audible version instead of Kindle because I had credits, so the Audible was prepaid. Usually I prefer to read a book the first time and to be ready to later, but this was very easy to follow the twists and turns and characters in the oral version. The reader is very good. Beware that the story seemed more intense than the earlier books. I would not recommend this book for young or sensitive children.

Historia
He's a self-described beach bum who won his houseboat in a card game. He's also a knight errant who's wary of credit cards, retirement benefits, political parties, mortgages, and television. He only works when his cash runs out, and his rule is simple: he'll help you find whatever was taken from you, as long as he can keep half.

Excellent Narration!
Revisado: 11-26-22
I was happy to see that Audible had these Travis McGee books available. I have read them all more than once. I noticed a number of reviews that did not like the narration. I started by buying just the first book to test the narrator. I thought he did an excellent job, managing the women's voices well. I did not hear anything "monotone" about Travis's first person narration. That is the matter of fact, unemotional voice that MacDonald gave Travis. I suppose it represents manliness for a guy born in the Depression and a veteran of the Korean War. I have bought the next couple in the series and will probably end up adding the whole series to my library.

Historia
The Earl of Spenborough has always been noted for his eccentricity. Leaving a widow younger than his own daughter Serena is one thing, but quite another is leaving Serena's fortune to the trusteeship of the Marquis of Rotherham -- a man whom Serena once jilted and who now has the power to give or withhold his consent to any marriage she might contemplate. When Serena and her lovely young stepmother Fanny decide to move to Bath, Serena makes an odd new friend and discovers an old love, Major Hector Kirkby.

Delightful!
Revisado: 05-02-20
One of my favorite Georgette Heyer novels read beautifully by Sian Phillips. Fun to listen to over and over.

Historia
At the American Academy of Classical Art, popular opinion has it that the school's handsome and mysterious founder, Raphael Sinclair, is a vampire. It is a rumor Rafe does nothing to dispel. Scholarship student Tessa Moss has long dreamed of the chance to study at Rafe's Academy. But she is floundering amidst the ups and downs of a relationship with egotistical art star Lucian Swain. Then, one of Tessa's sketches catches Rafe's attention: a drawing of a young woman in 1930s clothing who is covering the eyes of a child.

Well Read But Not My Cup of Tea
Revisado: 07-21-16
I have listened to Jennifer Ikeda's reading of the All Souls trilogy three times, so I thought I would enjoy this story. I guess I am just not a vampire story fan. Spoiler alert ... at least it had a happy ending.

Historia
Between his work on the 2014 Audible Audiobook of the Year, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel, and his performance of Classic Love Poems, narrator Richard Armitage ( The Hobbit, Hannibal) has quickly become a listener favorite. Now, in this defining performance of Charles Dickens' classic David Copperfield, Armitage lends his unique voice and interpretation, truly inhabiting each character and bringing real energy to the life of one of Dickens' most famous characters.

Dickens Aloud
Revisado: 04-08-16
I have seen the movies and the British tv productions, but Dickens's writing has so much depth that most of the story is usually lost. It was wonderful to hear it unabridged here. Richard Armitage's voicing is excellent with clearly recognizable voices and characterization for each person.
