Historia
Killing the Witches revisits one of the most frightening and inexplicable episodes in American history: the events of 1692 and 1693 in Salem Village, Massachusetts. What began as a mysterious affliction of two young girls who suffered violent fits and exhibited strange behavior soon spread to other young women. Rumors of demonic possession and witchcraft consumed Salem. Soon three women were arrested under suspicion of being witches—but as the hysteria spread, more than 200 people were accused. Thirty were found guilty, twenty were executed, and others died in jail or their lives were ruined.

A quote from the book I liked is, “Reveal the devil for the trickster which he is. He will seek retribution and even try to stop you.”

Historia
This short but timely work gives the listener a sense of the urgency of African and world history. Like many of the African-centered scholars who were Dr. Clarke's teachers and his sources of inspiration, he not only gives you accurate analysis and the descriptions of history, he provides prescription of what Africans have to do to bring into being a new day.

Historia
In the realm of African spiritual pathways, no tradition is so widely embraced and practiced as the West African religion Orisa. Awakened by her own spiritual journey, Tobe Melora Correal, an initiated priestess in the Yoruba-Lukumi branch of Orisa, guides us along this blessed road. Finding Soul on the Path of Orisa provides a fresh look at these ancient teachings and emphasizes introspection and inner work over the outward manifestations of Orisa's practices.

Can’t wait for a part two!
Revisado: 04-26-20
This book put a lot of the things I thought I knew about Yoruba, into better prospective. It is easy to follow and detailed both at the same time. It constantly reminds you that this is just an out line introductory conversation of something that is so much more complex. Thanks for the knowledge. I am ready to start my transformation.

Historia
Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race”, a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of Black women and men - bodies exploited through slavery and segregation and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a Black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’ attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son.

This is the story of my life. I was comforted in the way he understood me the way no one who didn't know me did. I found myself saying, "yup, yup thats right, so true, yup" the whole book. As a youth growing up in the 80s and 90s, my mother once told me that she was scared for me everytime I went out side. She wasscared not of me getting into trouble in the streets, but for me getting stopped by the police. Even my 7 year old daughter thought I knew and had a lot of police friends, because I was always getting pulled over and questioned. I'm in my late 40s now. When I run into any of my childhood friends, I greet them like I would another survivor of a terrible war we were forced to fight. Just marking it out our 20s was a success story.

Historia
This extraordinary document represents a new form of historical research and straightens out many open questions and misinterpretations. It takes the form of direct dialogues between a modern researcher and a member of the Qumran Essene community. Alive around the time of Christ, this community has become the focus of ideas about the connection of Jesus' teachings to earlier traditions.

Historia
"The Mis-Education of the Negro" is a book originally published in 1933 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson. The thesis of Dr. Woodson's book is that blacks of his day were being culturally indoctrinated, rather than taught, in American schools. This conditioning, he claims, causes blacks to become dependent and to seek out inferior places in the greater society of which they are a part. He challenges his readers to become autodidacts and to "do for themselves", regardless of what they were taught.
