Historia
Isla Crown has secured the love of two powerful rulers and broken the curses that plagued the six realms for centuries, but few know the true origins of her powers. Now, in the wake of a crushing betrayal, Isla finds herself hungry for distraction, preferring to frequent Lightlark’s seductive haunts instead of embracing her duties as the newly crowned leader of two separate realms. Worse, her fellow rulers haven’t ceded victory quietly, and there are others in Isla’s midst who don’t believe her ascent to power was earned.

Grim! Grim! GRIM!
Revisado: 09-28-24
This is far more enjoyable than the first one. Obviously the first was good enough to keep going to the second, so here I am. The premise is great, but falls short of being ACTOR level good. Still enjoyable in it's own right & I can respect all levels of writing. This is a bit juvjuvenile, but not to the point of intolerable. Cliff hanger has me all sorts of frustrated, because I absolutely HATE reading books that the series isn't finished lol. Now I have to wait. One other thing is I normally like a well written love triangle, but this one isn't it. Oro feels so absolutely unnecessary. His character plays such an insignificant role, that he could just be a lolovable side character, not an actual love intinterest. It's so obvious he's not it because there's no passion in the writing of scenes with him. nothing compared to the effort & passion put into grim. Oro is completely useless imo. I like to pretend he doesn't exist lol.

decent read
Revisado: 08-15-24
the premise is fantastic! the world & ideas surrounding the structure of things are fantastic. The hardest thing about this book is that the female lead character is ridiculously dumb. She has absolutely zero common sense. Someone could basically directly tell her something like "your eyes are like the color of the sky" and ten seconds later she could go on for 5 minutes wondering what color her eyes are, as if she wasn't just basically told. She's THAT oblivious. There's even times someone says something directly too her & just simply chooses not to hear it, to later be shocked to learn what she was already TOLD. I'm going to keep going, but she honestly makes it painful!

I couldn't finish. I wanted to like it because the premise is interesting, but it's just not fleshed out or detailed writing. Lacks depth.

I feel like most of this book just recapped what we already read in the first one. six chapters in and nothing has happened but the lead character droning on and on about everything that happened and was already explained in the first book.

I see some negative reviews here, but honestly I thought it was great. After struggling for a few months to find a book I could lose myself in, I finally found this. I throughly enjoyed it and can't wait to read the others. P.S never get angry about a cliff hanger... first see if a sequel is planned ;)

No depth
Revisado: 01-15-18
I have seen this book series floating around in my recommended reads for months. I finally decided to get it. Now, I read A LOT of YA dystopian books, but so far this one is not standing up to the others. There is great potential here with the set up of the society and class system and hints of rebellion. This first book offered nothing in the way of adventure or character depth. I don't mind a love triangle amid a story, but neither of the guys here have enough depth for me to form an attachment to either of them. The leading female character just gushes the entire book about her feelings about one or the other of the guys. literally the ENTIRE book is about this, there is no other plot line, yet so much potential for one. I have gotten the second book with the hope that things pick up a bit, but so far this seems like one big episode of The Bachelor. Disappointed, but will trudge along a bit longer.

Lacking
Revisado: 01-10-18
I was certainly disappointed with this book. The premise was good and the storyline. it was certainly hard to listen to with all of the different names that sound so much the same. it really made it difficult to follow along in the story and who was who and who was talking. I really love Divergent, but this book really fell short of my high expectations.
