cultish reductionist profiteering
Revisado: 04-04-25
Mel Robbins takes 20 years for clinical work from Dr Aditi and reduces it into a reductionist catch phrase. She then sells you on it by promising that it will miraculously solve all of your problems with no work on your part.
THIS IS A LIE
Mel Robbins is the kid in your group project who did no work but still got an A. If the world was moral 90% of her profits would be redirected to Dr Aditi because she's the one who did the REAL work here.

Historia
Nearly everyone is familiar with holograms - three-dimensional images projected into space with the aid of a laser. Two of the world's most eminent thinkers believe that the universe itself may be a giant hologram, quite literally a kind of image or construct created, at least in part, by the human mind. University of London physicist David Bohm, one of the world's most respected quantum physicists, and Stanford neurophysiologist Karl Pribram, an architect of our modern understanding of the brain, have developed a remarkable new way of looking at the universe.

Makes you feel like you understand the times
Revisado: 03-13-24
The relationship the MC has with his native friends is very relatable for anyone who has been 12 years old. The plot shows historical tensions between colonial peoples and native tribes in a fairly even handed way and it shows the difficult path that centrists ideologies attempt to tread in a polarized world.

Historia
Based on a true story. In October 1660, Etienne Gayneau rushes through the cobblestone streets of La Rochelle, France, to meet his cousin at the harbor. A ship carrying King Louis XIV's elite musketeers is docking. He dreams of becoming one himself, but has no idea that their arrival will force his Huguenot family to flee in the dead of night. His cousin has offered him a safe haven. Now he must choose - stay and pursue his dream or leave and face an uncertain destiny. Both choices are fraught with dangers. Either way his life will never be the same.

shows the tension of being uprooted
Revisado: 08-24-23
Amanda Cetas does a great job of showing how abruptly persecuted people have to change thier whole lives in order to escape the degradation of being on the wrong side of politics. she builds tension through consistently challenging her main character in ways that feel realistic and the reactions of a child to these situations feels authentic.
Daniel Kay did a good job of expressing the anxiety of the journey and the feeling of helplessness the Huguenots must have felt as they fled with no chance to truly plan.
I will say that I ha e noticed that recent audible productions fail to add a pause for scene changes or dream sequences, and this makes some scenes disorienting. this is an audible issue though, and has nothing to do with the reader or author so I still give this 5 stars

contrived
Revisado: 09-24-22
Tedious exposition abounds. She clearly didn't get this book edited. Could cut about half of it and make it a better book.

Historia
The current crisis is not like 2008 or even 1929. The New Depression that has emerged from the COVID pandemic is the worst economic crisis in US history. Most fired employees will remain redundant. Bankruptcies will be common, and banks will buckle under the weight of bad debts. Deflation, debt, and demography will wreck any chance of recovery, and social disorder will follow closely on the heels of market chaos. The happy talk from Wall Street and the White House is an illusion. The worst is yet to come.

Historia
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

assassin or pouty teenager
Revisado: 02-14-19
I'm not sure how old the author is but the main character is a sorority girl drama queen who had a lot of training on how to kill people. world is not well developed and the character and her relationships to others make no sense. the plot is boring so I can't say good things about the book.
the performance wasn't annoying and the reader did the best she could with the story she was reading.
seriously, what kind of world renowned assassin agonizes over shoe shopping and swoons at jewelery.
