Very disappointed.

I finally gave up and returned it. I loved the other Spellmonger books but this one was boring and going nowhere. I wonder how many times they had to stop the recording so Mr. Lee could get some coffee to wake up.

Had to return this book. SOT series is one of my favorites, but narrator gave everyone a bored, pissed-off monotone voice. Could not listen to it. I will have to read this one instead of listen.

The story just has no depth. It's hard to follow and the characters are plastic. I quit on chapter 12. Then decided to give it another try for lack of anything else but gave up again on chapter 19, Just nothing to keep my attention.

The story is of course great. But Terry Goodkind says he selected the narrator personally and I can't imagine why he selected this one. She sounds like a computer. You cannot tell who is talking when the characters have a conversation. So monotone and no voice changes to designate different people, or even male/female! I am terribly disappointed. I have been an audio reader for many years and have listened to hundreds of audio books and have endured bad narrators before, but never one as bad as this one! Completely ruins the story! Mr. Goodkind, what on earth were you thinking? There are so many wonderful narrators out there. Why didn't you stay with Sam Tsoutsouvas? Or if you wanted a female narrator, you should have gotten Kate Reading!

What made the experience of listening to The Third Kingdom the most enjoyable?
As with the other SOT books, it has a life lesson. That is what makes the SOT series so different and worthy when compared to other fantasy books.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Third Kingdom?
Can't say because I don't want to give away a monumental moment that will have an impact on you even after the book is finished.

The story and narrator are both very good. Grabs your attention pretty quickly. Audible lists book 5 of the series but where are books 2-4?? Disappointing that I can't continue the story.

Long road to nowhere...

Well, this was a pretty big disappointment. Too many characters I don't care about, too much plot setup but very little moving the story forward, more bad things happening to my important characters, bad characters still not getting what they deserve, and it ended with cliffhangers in ever major plot area! It's like the story just got away from him, like a runaway elephant. Maybe he'll pull it back togther in Winds of Winter, but I don't think I care anymore. I waited too long for this drivel.

Confusing....

There have not been many books I couldn't finish, but this is one. The first 6 chapters were fighting a war we knew nothing about, had no investment in the cause, and no idea what that cause was. I have made it over a quarter of the way thru part 2 and I still have no idea what the war is about. The character names are so foreign and similar that I can't keep up with the characters. The narrator is very good. He's the only reason I stuck it out this far. But I just have to give up. I'm used to books with a lot of different characters, like WOT. But this one, I just don't understand 'who's on first and what's on second'!
