This book was so poorly written and meaningless. I can always find something nice to say about a book. Not this time.

Historia
Woodrow Wilson Nickel, age 105, feels his life ebbing away. But when he learns giraffes are going extinct, he finds himself recalling the unforgettable experience he cannot take to his grave. It’s 1938. The Great Depression lingers. Hitler is threatening Europe, and world-weary Americans long for wonder. They find it in two giraffes who miraculously survive a hurricane while crossing the Atlantic. What follows is a twelve-day road trip in a custom truck to become Southern California’s first giraffes. Behind the wheel is the young Dust Bowl rowdy Woodrow.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

I loved,loved, loved this book
Revisado: 11-03-23
Andy Weir is a great story teller. Lots of suspense, sci fi and a bit of humor. Great plot twists.
I am glad I did this book on audible because Ray Porter is the best narrator I have ever heard. He should have his own fan club.
I did listen to it at 1.2 speed and that seemed about right.
If you like smart sci fi, science and self deprecating humor, then you should give this book a try

Worth a read
Revisado: 11-07-18
This young adult novel covers important issues. It does not gloss over the realities.
Mental illness in young people is real and Green knows how to talk about it in real and meaningful ways. Yes there is hope that he does not candy coat these issues. I recommend this book for high school students and up. It is very relatable.

Love this story
Revisado: 05-29-18
I love this version of the story of King Arthur. However, it is not for the casual reader. The amount of detail is only for those who enjoy full immersion in a story. For all others(most readers) it will be tedious.

Historia
Eliza Harris, a slave whose child is to be sold, escapes her beloved home on the Shelby plantation in Kentucky and heads North, eluding the hired slave catchers. Aided by the underground railroad, Quakers, and others opposed to the Fugitive Slave Act, Eliza, her son, and her husband George run toward Canada. As the Harrises flee to freedom, another slave, Uncle Tom, is sent "down the river" for sale. Too loyal to abuse his master's trust, too Christian to rebel, Tom wrenches himself from his family.

Well worth your time.
Revisado: 08-11-16
As most people are aware, this story takes place and talks about a most horrific thing in our history – slavery. The author gave a very descriptive view into the minds of the master and slave. If you have ever wondered how anyone could consider owning slaves, this book explains that mindset. Very interesting.
As is appropriate for the time there's a great deal discussion about Christianity snd the Bible. Tom was a devout Christian and this is what drove his actions.

Historia
For Zak Ebrahim, a childhood amongst terrorism was all he knew. After his father's incarceration, his family moved often, and as the perpetual new kid in class, he faced constant teasing and exclusion. Yet, though his radicalized father and uncles modeled fanatical beliefs, to Ebrahim something never felt right. To the shy, awkward boy, something about the hateful feelings just felt unnatural.

Revisado: 07-21-16
All of us at one time or another have wondered, how could someone be so heartless has to be a terrorist. This man had a close-up view and a strong understanding which he rejected. His worked for peace is courageous and heartfelt. Chapter 11 is ominous and reflects some of the fear mongering in our country today. We should take note and take heed.

Historia
The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

There are so many stories - the boys, boat building, the depression, Hitler's Germany, the Olympics. The author weaves these expertly together and includes philosophy and life lessons to boot.
