Great story, mediocre narration
Revisado: 09-22-24
I've read the whole series, but I really prefer the original narrator. I found this one particularly challenging when Ilya's accent dropped when he was speaking in (translated) Russian to Svetlana and the therapist. It was very strange. and took me out of the story when it happened. It didn't make sense. I like this couple and the series. It was great to see them get their happy ending. I much prefer the original narrator.

Mixed emotions
Revisado: 08-01-24
I want to preface this by saying that I have been to Frank's trainings and have always admired and respected him and his work. He's affable and engaging and a truly spectacular teacher. I enjoyed getting a deeper look at his life, but I felt this book missed the mark in some respects. I would have appreciated a deeper dive into his therapy as an adult. This was an area that was glossed over in the book. It almost felt like he was trying to finish the book on a deadline or something. I appreciated the slower pace and the deeper look in the earlier parts of the book. The end felt rushed, with quick nods toward topics rather than any kind of depth.
Given that the topics of trauma work on his history and reconciliation with his father were the subjects, and kind of the point of the book, it's odd that the later sections felt so rushed and incomplete. I will also say that Frank comes across in the book with a lack of humility, and this is completely at odds with how he is in person. I would urge you not to make assumptions about who he is based on how he comes across in the book because he is funny, playful, and humble in person. Additionally, I think the audiobook suffered a bit from Frank's familiarity with the material, as there were parts of the audiobook that came across as wooden and perfunctory.
I applaud Frank's bravery in writing this memoir. I hope his publishers give him the time he needs to write the next one. And if you have the opportunity to attend one of his trainings, sign up immediately!

Historia
When fanfic writer Aaron Page landed a temp job with the creator of hit TV show, Leeches, it was only meant to last a week. Three years later, Aaron’s still there. It could be because he loves the creative challenge. It could be because he’s a huge Leeches fanboy. It’s definitely not because of Lewis Hunter, his extremely demanding, staggeringly rude...and breathtakingly gorgeous boss.

Fun
Revisado: 12-03-23
The story was fun and enjoyable. I thought the narrator was excellent. I ended up staying awake all night because I couldn’t shut it off to go to bed. This is a very happy book.

Historia
Jamie Canning has never been able to figure out how he lost his closest friend. Four years ago, his tattooed, wisecracking, rule-breaking roommate cut him off without an explanation. So what if things got a little weird on the last night of hockey camp the summer they were 18? It was just a little drunken foolishness. Nobody died.

Excellent
Revisado: 11-26-23
I really liked this story and the struggles that each protagonist went through felt true to life. I thought the narrators were both wonderful. If I could change anything it would be a Boston brogue for Wes. But that narrator made up for it with great inflection. He caught both the anxiety and insouciance perfectly. I had to force myself to turn it off last night at 2am to catch some sleep.

Historia
When his mother became President, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, genius—his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There's only one problem: Alex has a beef with the actual prince, Henry, across the pond. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.

Great story, narrator ruined it
Revisado: 11-26-23
I loved this book when I read it on Kindle. I thought it would be fun to have on while working on long, boring projects. The narrator was really terrible. H
And how could anyone mispronounce Bowie?!?! The narration was stiff and passionless, His voice just droned on without much inflection. Had I not read the book prior to listening, I think I would have disliked it. Truly the worst narrator ever

Historia
Alexei Lebedev’s journey on the Pacific Crest Trail begins with a single snake. And it is angling for the hot stranger who seemed to have appeared out of thin air. Lex is prepared for rattlesnakes, blisters, and months of solitude. What he isn’t prepared for is Ben Caravalho. But somehow—on a 2,500-mile trail—Alexei keeps running into the outgoing and charismatic hiker with golden-brown eyes, again and again. It might be coincidence. Then again, maybe there’s a reason the trail keeps bringing them together . . .

Perfect
Revisado: 11-26-23
The narrator was excellent. He held my attention the whole time. And it was always clear which character was speaking. I new nothing about the PCT prior to this book. I’m on the opposite coast. But it was fascinating to hear about and the descriptions were vivid. I could see it in my mind’s eye despite never having encountered some of the vegetation. Excellent escape on a cold weekend.
