Historia
At first glance, the death of media mogul “Big Bill” Argosy appears to be suicide. But his widow, Laila, thinks otherwise. Because Big Bill made enemies - lots of them. And he’d rather fight to the death than take his own life. When the authorities refuse to investigate, Laila turns to the one person who can see connections in the universe where others can’t: Zip Ono, a young private investigator - and practicing Buddhist. Zip quickly learns that there’s no shortage of suspects who might very well want Argosy dead.

Historia
In need of a good adventure, Delaney Nichols takes the leap and moves to Edinburgh, Scotland, to start a job at The Cracked Spine. She doesn't know much about what she's gotten herself into other than that the work sounds exciting and that her new boss, Edwin MacAlister, has given her the opportunity of a lifetime.

Horrible main character
Revisado: 12-31-17
The book would be enjoyable except for 2 things. First you need to get past the ridiculous and unbelievable parts which aren't even central to the plot. For example, the main character Delaney is offered a job in a foreign country with only a phone interview and effortlessly falls into an ideal housing situation.
This wouldn't be a big deal except for the Delaney character. Which is my second reason. Delaney is so unlikable. She's rude, pushy and nosy. No thank you!

Historia
Deciphering an ancient alchemy book is more difficult than Zoe Faust bargained for. If Zoe isn't able to unlock an unusual alchemy book's secrets soon, the French gargoyle will remain awake but trapped in stone forever.

CAUTION: You'll find yourself cheering for a gargoyle!
It's just a lot of fun. I confess I'm already looking for the third book in the series.
The focus is on the overall story and not solving the murder mystery.

What a great cozy! It's easy to find yourself caught up in the story. I find myself checking to see if the 4th book in the series is out yet.

Historia
Lucy normally loves planning for the holidays, but this year, Tinker's Cove has fallen on hard times. With so many residents struggling, Christmas festivities are a luxury some can't afford. But the story's not so bleak at Downeast Mortgage, whose tightfisted owners, Jake Marlowe and Ben Scribner, are raking in profits from everyone's misfortune. Half the town is in their debt, so when the miserly Marlowe is murdered, the mourners are few and the suspects are many. Scribner believes Marlowe's ghost has come to warn him of his own demise, and when he starts receiving death threats, Lucy wonders if there's more to the omen....

Revisado: 12-21-14
Would you try another book from Leslie Meier and/or Karen White?
The narration was fine. This is my first and last Leslie Meier book
Would you ever listen to anything by Leslie Meier again?
Absolutely not
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Christmas Carol Murder?
I expect Christmas cozies to have a plot surrounded by the spirit of the season. Not harping on a bad economy. Listening to this book was a chore
Any additional comments?
It's pretty bad when you realize you just don't care who dunnit.

MC Beaton's cozy mysteries are fun. This one wasn't horrible but I certainly won't bother to listen to it again.

Disappointing
Revisado: 11-24-12
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Although I'm not a fan of novellas, I look forward to Anne Perry's short Christmas mysteries each year. So I had high expectations for this one. Unfortunately this one is, well, disappointing. It pains me to say it but this one falls short on pretty much every measure.

Historia
It is 1803, six years since Elizabeth and Darcy embarked on their life together at Pemberley, Darcy’s magnificent estate. Their peaceful, orderly world seems almost unassailable. Elizabeth has found her footing as the chatelaine of the great house. They have two fine sons, Fitzwilliam and Charles. Elizabeth’s sister Jane and her husband, Bingley, live nearby; her father visits often; there is optimistic talk about the prospects of marriage for Darcy’s sister Georgiana. And preparations are under way for their much-anticipated annual autumn ball.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Maybe it’s a problem with expectations since I was so excited to listen to this book. What’s not to love, PD James and Austen? Don’t get your hopes up and don’t bother with this one. Sorry!
What could P. D. James have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I’ve read other “Austen-add-ons” and enjoyed them very much. James somehow makes characters I came to love in the original novel unlikeable.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator was fine.
Any additional comments?
I couldn't even listen to all of it and I always finish books.

Revisado: 05-10-11
I loved this book when I read it so I was so excited to see a book from Anna Dean on Audible I didn't bother to read the descr.... and didn't realize the same book was published under the title, Bellfield Hall. So don't be disappointed like I was... if you've already read Bellfield Hall.
Otherwise, there's nothing disappointing about this book! Don't miss it!
