Great story, plot and characters.

I enjoyed the story and characters. Lou is a complex and interesting person. I did not care for the audio performance. I was kinda offended at the childish representation of some of the supporting cast.

Historia
Gaia is dying. That, at least, is what Dr. Lionel Scott believes. A renowned expert in tropical and infectious diseases, Scott has witnessed the devastating impact of illness and turmoil at critical scale. Society as it exists is untenable, and the direct link to Earth’s death spiral; population levels are out of control and people have allowed disarray and disorder to run rampant. While most are concerned about deadly disease, Scott knows that it is truly humanity itself that will destroy Gaia.

As usual, a very entertaining read. John Sanford comes through again.

The combination of action, with so much to think about combined to make this a novel to remember and ponder. The science involved within the plot was at once terrifying, thought provoking and super interesting. I also enjoyed the variety of personalities that the characters exhibited.

Stone Barrington novels are a guilty pleasure of mine. Stuart Woods does a great job of launching one’s imagination, into the lifestyle of Stone. He bought an airplane that exemplifies what it’s like to have thirty million extra at his disposal to finance a convenience. Kinda fun to play with that idea for a while.

What was the point of even writing this novel?
Revisado: 12-05-22
This novel is beneath Nelson DeMille. One of my all time favorite authors has served us a novel about …….nothing really. John Corey it turns out is a whining, sarcastic, unfunny jerk. We have always known that, but we put up with it because the plot was intriguing and interesting, this was tiresome. Please Nelson write another one quickly, so I can get the Taste of “The Maze” out of my mouth.

Mixed feelings about this book
Revisado: 08-12-22
As I posted I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand it was great that they were trying to bring to justice people who hurt kids. But, on the other hand was this some kind of warped romance novel? Long periods of introspection among men and women who pretty much professionally kill people. I think the narration was well done, the different accents will help the listener keep track of who is who and what they were doing. Unfortunately, in the long run, I just didn’t buy the premise.

Revisado: 10-24-21
As I said, when I first started reading I was not too impressed with where the story was going. Then I was able to start thinking what would I do if I were Miles. As the plot developed, it was populated with some pretty interesting characters. This story is right out of the headlines and does make one think about the unintended consequences of some of our emerging technology. The narrator was top rate. I did enjoy the conclusion.

Intriguing plot, very rough narration.
Revisado: 09-04-21
I find this book a welcome relief from the typical political thriller. I was kept guessing by the Presidents character. He was suitably difficult to pigeonhole, as a type. A straight shooter, but not too afraid of the political intrigue, needed to become a president. The supporting cast of characters was what one would expect. It was a fun and interesting listen, perhaps a bit of tightening of the Presidents and the other characters prose would have served to move the book along. As I said the plot was intriguing and well thought out and presented. Again different from what one would expect. I found the narration, especially that of the President was jarring and uneven. Much rather have one narrator than the cast of characters that were presented. I would, however, recommend this book, perhaps not the Audible version, but the book version.

What in the world WAS this?
Revisado: 09-03-16
Would you try another book from Alex Lukeman and/or Jack de Golia?
I guess I got into something that I did not understand. I get now that it is part of a series of chapters. Aside from that the writing was stilted and cliched, not a good listen. Add to that the narrator's attempts at different voices and it was one of my worst listens in awhile. I recommend neither the author nor the narrator.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Something by Harlan Coben
Would you be willing to try another one of Jack de Golia’s performances?
Doubtful, but with an author that I respect, perhaps.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I did appreciate the give and take between the two protagonists.

A terrifying Lucas Davenport thriller from number one New York Times best-selling author and Pulitzer Prize–winner John Sandford. They call them Travelers. Lucas Davenport’s adopted daughter, Letty, is home from college when she gets a phone call from a woman Traveler she’d befriended in San Francisco. The woman thinks somebody’s killing her friends, she’s afraid she knows who it is, and now her male companion has gone missing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I do most of what Sandford writes. I did some research on Travelers and found that I had also learned something, always good. Wonder what Lucas will do next? I hope it also involves Letty, who is becoming one of my favorite characters.

No cliche' unwritten
Revisado: 04-09-15
What would have made Act of War better?
If Brad had sold the idea to another author. I thought, upon reading the synopsis that the plot sounded like something I would enjoy. However, the author must have a Cliche' dictionary that he used extensively. Also, another way to make it better would be to have a different reader, there was no rest from this guy who thinks that every word is best read as if it is the most important in the story, exhausting!
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I actually enjoyed the plot, sounded and was developed appropriately. I didn't finish the book because I found the writing style amateurish.
How could the performance have been better?
As I stated earlier. The performance was too urgent, for lack of a better term. After a while I stopped caring when he tried to amp up the drama.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Again, the concept of the plot was quite well thought out.
Any additional comments?
I very seldom give negative reviews, so it pains me to do so now. I think a collaboration would have been better, with someone else doing the actual writing and Mister Thor figuring out the plot.
