Historia
The Jewish people are one of the oldest living people groups on the planet. The Jews lived alongside the ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, Phoenicians, and Sumerians - all of whom have since disappeared from the pages of history. Yet the Jews still remain. Despite all of the odds, Jewish culture, language, laws, and religion have remained intact over the course of thousands of years.

Historia
The quest for social justice is a powerful crusade of our time, with an appeal to many different people, for many different reasons. But those who use the same words do not always present the same meanings. Clarifying those meanings is the first step toward finding out what we agree on and disagree on. From there, it is largely a question of what the facts are. Social Justice Fallacies reveals how many things that are thought to be true simply cannot stand up to documented facts, which are often the opposite of what is widely believed.

I am glad to change my idea of HST. My grandparents sent my parents a telegram the week of my birth, bemoaning the loss of Dewey. I want to do more reading about Dean Acheson, Marshall, and Andrew Jackson. This book, beautifully written and narrated, gives me an appetite for much more.

True story told in the "you are there" mode. I had snow in my boots and frozen fingers. I rarely get choked-up but this one got to me, especially at the very end.

A Great Book to Read and Reread...

I wish I had heard this in my youth, but it is also vital for 68+ year-olds. Wonderful and horrible history that we must clearly understand and see; and if we don't - at our peril.

Too close for comfort.
Revisado: 07-26-17
Would you listen to The Circle again? Why?
Great story. Made me wonder about all the connections that are here now, with so many more on the way. The story rings many bells: economics, health care, religion, politics, relationships, but especially loss of privacy, and how we can become impersonal, guided by our gadgets.
What did you like best about this story?
I recognize that we are heading in a troublesome direction. When we get to our destination it may be too late and we may be surrounded.
Parts of the book were funny, parts were gastly.
Have you listened to any of Dion Graham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
If you could take any character from The Circle out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Mercer - I'd buy him a plane ticket to the embassy where Julian Assange is hiding in the U.K.
Any additional comments?
Got the idea to download this book from EconTalk podcast. Glad I did.

Spanning the years 1940 to 1965, Defender of the Realm, the third volume of William Manchester’s The Last Lion, picks up shortly after Winston Churchill became prime minister - when his tiny island nation stood alone against the overwhelming might of Nazi Germany. The Churchill portrayed by Manchester and Reid is a man of indomitable courage, lightning-fast intellect, and an irresistible will to action.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I'm half way through my run and the story quits on me. "Stay tuned for the next installment" - not.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I liked it until, at the very end, it dunked me in the cold water.

It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This.
Revisado: 03-29-16
What did you love best about I Am Pilgrim?
I couldn't wait to get back to the book. My program is to only listen to Audible when I am working out. I can't wait to get on the treadmill so I can listen to my reward.
I even meditate on the plot of the story when I'm doing other projects.
What was one of the most memorable moments of I Am Pilgrim?
Either the boathouse or the Hindu Kush. It is all memorable, though.
Have you listened to any of Christopher Ragland’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes. How about paranoid?
Any additional comments?
I'd very much like to find similar stories and genre. I'll look up the author and start there. Thank you very much for including this book.
