Historia
Returning to the territory he so brilliantly explored in his masterful New York Times best seller American Gods, the incomparable Neil Gaiman offers up a work of dazzling ingenuity, a kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth that is at once startling, terrifying, exhilarating, and fiercely funny, a true wonder of a novel that confirms Stephen King's glowing assessment of the author as "a treasure house of story, and we are lucky to have him."

There is no better storyteller
Revisado: 06-03-24
As usual for Gaiman, the story is 100% engaging. He craftily combines humor and drama as effectively as he combines the natural world with the supernatural. Happily the narration is ON POINT! The narrator does a fabulous job of distinguishing the voices of the characters without sounding forced or silly. Highly recommend!!

Historia
Everyone was dead. Indian raiders massacred the entire wagon train. Only seven-year-old Hardy Collins and three-year-old Betty Sue Powell, managed to survive. With a knife, a faithful stallion, and the survival lessons his father taught him, Hardy must face the challenges of the open prairie as they head west in search of help. Using ingenuity and common sense, Hardy builds shelters, forages for food, and learns to care for Betty Sue. But their journey through this hostile wilderness is being tracked by even more hostile men.

Who knew I would love a western?
Revisado: 12-27-23
It’s not that I have ever purposely avoided westerns; it’s just a genre I had not explored until listening to LeMay’s The Unforgiven (also recommend!) a couple of months ago. I decided to give this book a listen as well. Call me a new fan! Exciting story, interesting characters, and lots of suspense. I found myself verbally cheering Hardy on through every obstacle. So much better than I expected. The narration is excellent as well!

Historia
This brilliant satirical novel, tracing the life and loves of Ernest Pontifex, has continued in popularity since its original publication in 1903. Every generation finds in The Way of All Flesh a reaffirmation of youth's rightful struggle against the tyranny of harsh parents and its admirable will for freedom of personal expression.

Wonderful narration of a Victorian classic
Revisado: 03-15-15
I have set aside this novel as one I should read someday for years. I an so glad to have discovered this audio version instead. The excellent narration adds the proper tone and wit which may have been lost in reading. I purchased the Kindle companion which syncs with audio to allow myself to reread passages that require a second glance.. Butler's novel is an excellent story. Highly recommend to those who enjoy classics of the time period.
