Historia
The Great Sioux War of 1876-77 began at daybreak on March 17, 1876, when Colonel Joseph J. Reynolds and six cavalry companies struck a village of Northern Cheyennes - Sioux allies - thereby propelling the Northern Plains tribes into war. The ensuing last stand of the Sioux against Anglo-American settlement of their homeland spanned some 18 months, playing out across more than 20 battle and skirmish sites and costing hundreds of lives on both sides and many millions of dollars. And it all began at Powder River.

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Untuck this recording quality

Full of unnecessary, stress inducing profanity - couldn’t get far past the start
Revisado: 02-24-23
There’s probably some great stuff in here, but I couldn’t get past the introduction. My first career was in the Army and I’ve never had a problem with using and hearing profanity. But, there are many situations where it’s inappropriate and counter productive - this book and subject matter are standout examples. I didn’t even notice the tinny audio - the immature, unprofessional teenage language f**ked my brain before it could even register the production quality. Record it again, but in a reasonably equipped studio, and drop the juvenile language. I might have another crack at it then.

Historia
It was the afternoon of 18 August 1966, hot, humid with grey monsoonal skies. D Company, 6RAR were four kilometres east of their Nui Dat base, on patrol in a rubber plantation not far from the abandoned village of Long Tan. A day after their base had suffered a mortar strike, they were looking for Viet Cong soldiers. Then—just when they were least expecting—they found them. Under withering fire, some Diggers perished, some were grievously wounded, the rest fought on, as they remained under sustained attack. For hours these men fought for their lives against the enemy onslaught.

Great Read - Best of All Long Tan Accounts So Far
Revisado: 01-04-23
Peter FitzSimons has again presented a significant piece of history via a well-crafted and highly engaging story. David Trefonnick’s narration also does the account justice, though I’d recommend he defer to alternative sound effects for bugles, renditions of ‘Danny Boy’, or anything else requiring more than straight oratory. Fortunately, I had the Kindle edition to finish the offending passages without audio.
All-up, a great investment in time and money!

Historia
A century ago very few people dreamed of space travel. Today it is the most daring and technologically sophisticated quest ever undertaken, being driven not just by government agencies such as NASA and ESA, but also by visionaries such as Richard Branson (Virgin Galactic), Elon Musk (SpaceX) and Jeff Bezos (Blue Origin). To mark the 50th anniversary of the 1969 moon landing, this major drama-documentary series charts the definitive story of the past, present and future of humankind’s exploration of space. The Space Race is narrated by Kate Mulgrew and features a full cast.

Historia
Between 1861 and 1865, the clash of the greatest armies the Western hemisphere had ever seen turned small towns, little-known streams, and obscure meadows in the American countryside into names we will always remember. In those great battles, those streams ran red with blood-and the United States was truly born.

Worth Coming Back for More
Revisado: 04-01-18
A highly informative, greatly entertaining perspective on a nation-shaping period of modern history, delivered with enthusiasm by someone who really knows his stuff. This is the third time I’ve listened to this, and is almost certainly not the last.
