Love the story, but..

Jodi Ellen always does a great job with her writing and characters. This particular storyline is realistic and I appreciate her tackling this "Forbidden" topic. The only reason I only give four stars is because of the following.
Why do all the heroines, at some point, lose control of bodily function and can't move their legs or speak. It's either they're so enamored with a man they've just met or because some dangerous or traumatic event. Please give your female characters a bit more gumption, or is that the way British women actually respond to unexpected, emergencies or dangerous events. Whatever happened to Fight or Flight,? Is that not a thing in Britain? Anyway, I do enjoy the books and the way they allow you to become apart of a different life.

Why is Elle so useless? She is amazingly naive and stupid. Why are women Alexandrian thisnway.n I'm not sure if I'll read the secondnbook, only because I just don't care what happens tonher.

You definitely have to put your mind on Neutral to come close to believing this scenario. I liked each character individually, but didn't like them together nor could I wrap my head around the situation.

irritating character

Okay, when I began this book. Lucy has to be the most irritating character. She is willfully antagonistic and entitled. She made this a very difficult listen.. it took almost the whole book, before I kinda warmed up to her. Adam was the primary reason I continued on with the book.

False Pride

This story was okay, but not my favorite ofbrhevthrew. Something I've noticed in a few othwrbbook, is this false pride written into the female characters. Even when it's not truly believabe, the characters will reject support or help due to some phony ideal, that Western culture would never accept something "unearned," even when truly needed. Come on, in the real world this is insulting to women who will accept help when truly needed.

I Loved It!

Penelope did a wonderful job with this book. What a surprise in the way she wrote two stories in one, blending and explaining one love story with the coming of age of everyone.
I am so looking forward to the stories of the next generation , especially Quinn and Lucas.
Really a great read.

STUPID WOMAN

Why is it so popular to write the female leads as so Stupid with no self preservation instincts. It's my own damn fault for reading and continuing to hope the character would get a clue. Are all British women this naive? Really, the story would be much, much better if the female lead was a little brighter than a moon rock.

I read or listened a second time, hoping my first review was too harsh. I really do LOVE Miller, but Holy F**k, I now have a headache trying not to scream at Olivia. I do love the other characters. So why did you write Olivia in such a ridiculous manner. I couldn't be friends with such a person and definitely wouldn't want her with me in a desperate and emergency situation.

Irritating Woman

The storyline was decent, but Ava is really written as an irritating character. She's confusing, manipulative, worthless in life situations, entitled and immature. Jesse has a ton of issues, but he is so much more likeable.
