Couldn’t Get Through It

Narrator was great. The idea/premise behind the storyline was great. The story and how it was playing out? UGGGGHHHHHH. I could not even get 1/2 way through it.

It felt like I was back in High School and needed to take an essay and make it 100 times longer so I added a ton of extra details and dragged it out to fit the requirements.

I like intrigue. I like character build up. I like slow burns. This? This was ice cold and moving millimeter by millimeter toward lukewarm before I finally had to stop (several hours in: trust me I tried to give it a chance).

FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!

The storyline? *chef’s kiss*. Kept me guessing until the VERY end. The narrator? UNBELIEVABLY good. I’m not usually one for single POV/single narration but this definitely worked for me. Worth getting all 3 books in the series because you won’t be able to stop listening.

My only complaint: what to get next!!!

Oh. My. God! YES!

I couldn’t stop listening to this book! It had me hooked from the first line. Who’s the good guy? Who’s the bad guy? What exactly IS Donna and why can she understand the dead people?

It’s NONSTOP hilarity-seriously how does the author make supergluing body parts funny?-, breathtaking moments-will they get together? Won’t they?-, sad moments-Sam!! *sniff*-, Inappropriate moments-Dear lord Jennifer. We alllll have that one friend who over shares.-, and all the unexpected twists and turns you can handle and some you can’t.

Sit down, buckle up, and be prepared to find ways to listen to this book EVERYWHERE (yep I even found a way to listen at work). Can’t wait to listen to book 2!

Great Narration;Good Premise;Tedious

First: Narration. Narration was fantastic. Narrators did a fabulous job with emulating male and female voices. Tone. Speed. All great.

Storyline: Great premise for a storyline. Kept me interested with the mystery/thriller component. Some parts kept me guessing.

Execution: It was excessively wordy-some parts felt like a high schooler trying to add sentences to fill out a requirement for a paper. There were multiple times that the same idea was said several times in a row. All I could think was “OMG GET ON WITH IT”.

Overall I think the author could do with taking this back to the edit room and perhaps shortening it a bit-keeping the quality and removing the irrelevant or repetitive parts.

Fabulous Listen!

First of all, GET THIS BOOK. No, seriously. You won’t regret it. One of the best books I’ve listened to (and that is probably in the hundreds).

Shey did a PHENOMENAL job writing the characters. Mix fate, real life problems, a heap of romance, a bunch of humor and a pinch of smut and you have the spell for a PERFECTLY hilarious romance book.

Characters-
Baron, the main dude. Single dad, burned before, adoring father, Texas gentleman. You want to love him.

Casey- Main gal, escaping a terrible job, horridly vapid parents, and discovering true life and love, all with no filter on her thoughts.

Camden- Baron’s oldest daughter. Precocious. Strong willed.

Sev-Baron’s youngest daughter. Hilariously spooky and odd but absolutely adorable. Also stubborn.

Morgan-Baron’s Brother- don’t let him have tequila.

Lillian-Love interest of Morgan. Becomes Casey’s BFF

Tara- Baron’s ex. Absolute horrid b*tch. Great antagonist you want to hate.

The narrators were AMAZING! They captured the characters and their personalities perfectly. The way they voiced the little girls? You could picture them.

Again. GET THIS BOOK. Worth. Every. Credit/penny.

Great Friends to Lovers romance

First of all, yet another great story by Lili Valente. I ADORE her stories

Second: FABULOUS narration by Tyler and Summer. They pick up the interactions and nuances so well.

TLDR summary: he’s a hotshot hockey player with a female bestie. Bestie is a shy virgin kindergarten teacher. Bestie asks hotshot hockey player to teach her about sex “and stuff”. It becomes hands on. They both wind up falling in love and Happily Ever After.

Perhaps with a different Narrator

The storylines were decent. About what you’d expect from a 45-50 minute story. But the narration? Dear lord. Half the time it was horribly whiny and the other half it got happy sounding even when the words weren’t supposed to be happy. And even then there was a nasal whiny property of the happy inflections.

I tried listening to the story and imagining it with another narrator and without this narrator, the stories would have been WAY better. (FYI I couldn’t make it all the way through the second story).

Not worth a credit but for $5? Eh. If you can get past the narration story is okay.

Not a single mom romance

It was ok. Pretty “out there” on the plot. Older woman who’s in a loveless marriage meets younger guy who’s a virgin. He’s the contractor. She’s the lonely housewife. After having sex twice they are in love. Definitely was lacking. A lot.
