Historia
Evan Michaels struggles with being different, with having the complete memories of two other people who lived sequentially before him. He fights loneliness and believes he is unique until he meets Poppy. She recognizes his struggle because she is like him, except that she is much older, remembering seven consecutive lives. But there is something else she must share with Evan - she is a member of the secretive Cognomina. They are, in effect, immortals - compiling experiences and skills over lifetimes into near superhuman abilities that they have used to drive history over centuries.

Plot meanders
Revisado: 11-30-21
I'm really starting to lose faith in the Audible rating system. I did not like this book despite the high ratings given by others.
The book starts out well and sets up an interesting premise. But after that, it just meanders. It goes from place to place, without a tight plot, until eventually it's over. It's in need of a good editor.
Bronson Pinchot, as always, is an excellent narrator.

Historia
Attorney Deborah Knott is North Carolina's answer to V.I. Warshawski, a legal sleuth with a knack for sniffing out the most baffling crimes. Deborah has just done the unthinkable: entered the heated race for judge of old-boy-ruled Colleton County. The only female candidate, she's busy reeling in voters and giving campaign speeches. There couldn't be a worse time for Gayle Whitehead to beg Deborah to investigate the 18-year-old unsolved murder of Gayle's mother, Janie.

I loved this book
Revisado: 02-28-19
There were a few initial issues with the recording quality. But that smoothed itself out and I was drawn into the book. I loved how it emersed you into the world of the protagonist. Interesting plot. Great characters.

Historia
Twelve-year-old Mary Hayes can't stand her orphanage. But when an attempted escape doesn't go quite as well as she'd hoped, Mary fears she'll be stuck in the Buffalo Asylum for Young Ladies forever. The very next day, a mysterious woman named Madame Z appears at the orphanage requesting to adopt Mary. The matron's all too happy to get the girl off her hands. Soon Mary is fed a hearty meal, dressed in a clean, new nightgown, and shown to a soft bed with blankets piled high.

Very creative tale
Revisado: 02-01-19
I listened to this book with my kids partly because we have enjoyed Katherine Marsh's other books, and partly to expose them to a bit to Eastern European folklore. To say the book did not disappoint is an understatement. The kids loved it.
This book is written to be accessible to middle schoolers. I'm a pretty literate fellow, and I found myself sucked into it. Marsh's writing is intelligent, creative, and unique.
I was not sure about the narrator in the first five minutes. But it was just the reading of one minor character that I was not sure about. The rest of the narration was masterful. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This book was a lot of fun. When I purchased the book, I wasn't sure if I could relate to the plight of Indian computer programmers. This book really draws you into the characters. The writing is skillful, and the plot engaging. Definitely worth it.

Historia
Divorced from his own wife and carrying on halfheartedly with another man's, saddled with a bum knee and friends who make enemies redundant, Sully now has one new problem to cope with: a long-estranged son who is in imminent danger of following in his father's footsteps. With its uproarious humor and a heart that embraces humanity's follies as well as its triumphs, Nobody's Fool, from Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Richard Russo, is storytelling at its most generous. Nobody’s Fool was made into a movie starring Paul Newman, Bruce Willis, Jessica Tandy, and Melody Griffith.

Rescued from the Atlantic by a former police officer, Mick Stranahan, she decides not to report him but instead haunt and taunt him, with Mick's help, by playing dead.

This was a lot of fun. There were a few moments where the loose ends tied up too neatly, but still a very fun time.
