Nothing is a coincidence
Revisado: 02-02-25
It could not be more obvious that the earth was completely surveyed to the millimeter with incredible accuracy. The mathematics of all measurements of earth’s features indicates nothing is by accident. The incite from Chatelaine’s research is unmatched to those that choose to pay attention during this read. It took me two reads to appreciate the endless mathematical research. Math is a perfect science. Believe it.

Historia
On his second combat tour, Nick Brokhausen served in Recon Team Habu, CCN. This unit was part of MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group), or Studies and Observations Group as it was innocuously called. The small recon companies that were the center of its activities conducted some of the most dangerous missions of the war, infiltrating areas controlled by the North Vietnamese in Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia. The companies never exceeded more than 30 Americans, yet they were the best source for the enemy's disposition.

The Ghosts of the Vietnam War
Revisado: 03-12-20
These are the LERPS that every other book about the Vietnam War eludes to being somewhere in the valley or jungle needing dust offs. The small patrols that get hit here and there, but nobody sees, are these guys. Crazy covert big balls infiltration with a suicidal craving for a near death experience sums up the majority of this book. There are no pacifists in these units.

Historia
Among the best books ever written about men in combat, The Killing Zone tells the story of the platoon of Delta One-six, capturing what it meant to face lethal danger, to follow orders, and to search for the conviction and then the hope that this war was worth the sacrifice. The book includes a new chapter on what happened to the platoon members when they came home.

It is no 13th Valley
Revisado: 03-12-20
The story is above average and the writing is decent. Do not expect any effort from the narrator to disguise his voice for different characters. It is a very mono tone production. The reader is kept interested by the overall action of combat. There is very little downtime and not much character development.

Historia
Joe Barboza knew that there were two requirements for getting inducted into the Mafia. You had to be Sicilian. And you had to commit a contract killing. The New Bedford-born mobster was a proud Portuguese, not Sicilian, but his dream to be part of La Cosa Nostra proved so strong that he thought he could create a loophole. Barboza’s legacy, buried for years thanks to the murders or deaths of its participants, is finally coming to light and being told in its unvarnished brutality by one of America’s most respected true crime writers.

One of the most feared Chicago mobsters, Sam Giancana, clawed his way to the top of the Mafia hierarchy by starting as a hit man for Al Capone. He was known as one of the best vehicle escape artists, a tenacious business man, and a ruthless killer. He partied with major stars such as Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe and did business with agents ranging from the CIA to the Vatican to the shah of Iran. When politician Joe Kennedy gave Giancana the chance to use mob muscle to get his son John elected, Giancana jumped at the task.

Big Answers to Bigger Questions
Revisado: 09-27-19
This book reads as completely credible. All the outstanding descriptions of alliances and coverups ring true. There are lots of facts and little drama. This is more like an American history book than anything else. Double Cross is a well chosen title.

Innocent people do go to jail. Sometimes mistakes are made. But even more terrifying is when the authorities conspire to frame them. That's what happened to Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey, who were convicted of murder and are serving life sentences. Un-Making a Murderer is an explosive book which uncovers the illegal, devious, and covert tactics used by Wisconsin officials.

A little long in the tooth
Revisado: 09-16-19
This story needed to be told. Attwood gives the reader a taste of what it is like to be a juror. The overwhelming scientific evidence that is substantiated and refuted during trial can be confusing. This is a technical listen with no breaks for sleeping. Attwood makes you a juror. It is just the facts.

Two Tonys Walks The Walk
Revisado: 09-09-19
Two Tonys is no lollipop gangster. He makes no excuses for his behavior. Two Tonys commands respect and passes on many lessons in life. This is one of those books that one just does not want to end. I can only guess that Tony has many other stories, possibly edited out for whatever reason.
This listen is smooth and captivating. There are no stretches of boredom. Each chapter hooks the listener with Two Tony's uncanny ability to escape many dangerous situations with a variety of tactics. Hence, there are lessons to be learned.
Shaun Attwood has written another beauty. His style is simple but very effective. He always gets to the point and embellishes very little. Leaving nothing but the facts, Shaun keeps the reader interested at all times. I found this read, listen, extremely entertaining and highly recommend it. I wish it never ended. God Speed Two Tony's. You walked the walk.

Historia
In this extraordinary work, Beth Macy takes us into the epicenter of a national drama that has unfolded over two decades. From the labs and marketing departments of big pharma to local doctor's offices; wealthy suburbs to distressed small communities in Central Appalachia; from distant cities to once-idyllic farm towns; the spread of opioid addiction follows a tortuous trajectory that illustrates how this crisis has persisted for so long and become so firmly entrenched.

Wake Up America this is Everywhere
Revisado: 04-01-19
I have lived this. I am living this. This is a must read for anyone and everyone. Here is a quick point that I learned from this read. Medical professionals that refused to believe that OC was 100% addictive to anyone that tried it were wrong. Testing it themselves to prove a point had disastrous effects. They became hooked for life! Here is a warning. Do not dabble in, sample, party with, or take for an injury this opiate derivative. It is a little ball of big hell.
Take this book with all seriousness. If you are hooked or know someone that is "Dopesick" please get help immediately. Do this before you lose everything that you have ever loved and all the things that you worked so hard to achieve. A maintenance program will stop the madness on day one. There is hope. This book is a testament to that. A must read.

Story of characters
Revisado: 02-04-19
I was expecting a little more, some, even a little bit, of cat and mouse between the investigators and the perpetrator. Not so. This really was an embellished account of the victims and victims family's day to day routines surrounding the abductions. No I am not a writer.
