The plot and characters are good. The story moved well. Definitely like the fact there’s a sequel. I struggled with parts of the narration.

I throughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. The narration was excellent. The characters, plot and storyline were impressive. Kept my attention. There were times I’d stay in my car listening until the chapter ended. Highly recommend.

Underwhelmed
Revisado: 02-25-23
I thoroughly enjoyed a different novel by the authors and recommended that book to anyone that asked for recommendations. I saw this book and figured I’d purchase. I didn’t read the reviews. The storyline and plot held my interest but the last hour felt rushed. There were gaps not explained. The plot twist I could have enjoyed if it weren’t bulldozed.

Captivating
Revisado: 06-21-21
I found it difficult to stop listening. The various characters and their stories were interwoven very well. The storyline held my attention and was easy to follow. I will say, I was very disappointed by the ending. It seemed anticlimactic given the entire layout of the story.

Grace and Mercy
Revisado: 03-03-20
As someone who works for a child welfare agency, I needed to hear this. We lose sight of the whole person, their birth, upbringing when there were significant factors. The more I listened to this story, I found myself frustrated with her, then crying, then angry, knowing that she couldn’t see her worth. The journey in her faith was amazing. Hey finding her way was the blessing. Definitely worth reading. I’m better for it.

Historia
Bryan Stevenson was a young lawyer when he founded the Equal Justice Initiative, a legal practice dedicated to defending those most desperate and in need: the poor, the wrongly condemned, and women and children trapped in the farthest reaches of our criminal justice system. One of his first cases was that of Walter McMillian, a young man who was sentenced to die for a notorious murder he insisted he didn’t commit. The case drew Bryan into a tangle of conspiracy, political machination, and legal brinksmanship—and transformed his understanding of mercy and justice forever.

An amazing book from start to finish. Compelled me throughout to do more. Helped me deeper understand the complexity of the justice system. Tugged at my own need to extend mercy.

This book felt like I was having a conversation with one of my girlfriends. She was direct and “real” and perhaps that’s what made me connect most with her.
