Historia
In this “dark fairy tale” (Kirkus Reviews), Phoebe, an eight-year-old girl, lies comatose following a car accident—a body without a spirit. Ceres, her mother, can only sit by her bedside and read aloud the fairy stories Phoebe loves in the hope they might summon her back to this world. But an old house on the hospital grounds, a property connected to a book written by a vanished author, is calling to Ceres.

Loved the story. Ceres is a sufficiently complex character to believe in, as she goes through it.

Anemic Fairy Tales
Revisado: 08-28-22
Badly baudelairized, whitewashed tales for parents who think their children could not emotionally handle "Little Red Riding Hood". Such a disappointment!

I wish they'd made this with another narrator.
Revisado: 08-28-22
Great stories but listening to the narrator is a bit torturous. I had to stop listening to it just a little bit in because the narrator's voice was so annoying- to me ,at least. Listen to the sample before you get it.

When tragedy strikes, Cassidy, a cam girl living in Southern California, must return to the small West Virginia town she left behind. Cassidy likes her job getting naked for men on camera, though she prefers sex with women. She never came out to her family or friends back in her home state - not about her sexuality and certainly not about her sex work. Now, she must figure out how to hold on to the life she’s built for herself while picking up the pieces of her fractured family.

A look at the complexity of mother-daughter relationships and the idea of what family is. I'm impressed by this author's first book, and hope to see more!

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

Great from a medical point of view.
Revisado: 09-26-20
The narration was great, the information was fine. However, character development of major characters was limited to one mule. Still, an engaging story, if predictable.
