Very Intriguing
Revisado: 01-03-25
Having never read the books, but seeing the films, I was interested in reading the first book. It was really good. Enjoyed it from start to finish. Kept my interest and wasn’t boring. Definitely recommend if you like mysteries. The narrator was a tad boring, but overall a great read/listen and will definitely read the next one at some point...

Historia
All the stories in this collection from Stephen King are related to the Vietnam War. King fans will recognize echoes of The Dark Tower series in the collection's first story, "Low Men in Yellow Coats." As the characters develop over the next four stories, King's version of the Vietnam War becomes one of his most frightening tales ever.

great story to listen to and pass the time
Revisado: 11-30-23
it was a great story to pass the time and take my mind off things. it was cool to hear how the karate kid became such a phenomenon. the success of the films and cobra kai tv show has been wild. So to hear how it all came to be right out of Daniel-san's mouth was intriguing. I enjoyed the book and any fan of the films will too.

Historia
Deep in the African rain forest, near the legendary ruins of the Lost City of Zinj, an expedition of eight American geologists are mysteriously and brutally killed in a matter of minutes. Ten thousand miles away, Karen Ross, the Congo Project Supervisor, watches a gruesome video transmission of the aftermath: a camp destroyed, tents crushed and torn, equipment scattered in the mud alongside dead bodies - all motionless except for one moving image - a grainy, dark, man-shaped blur.

Not for me
Revisado: 11-04-23
This book, was so dreadful to read. It was very boring and I was aching for it to end. Just didn’t work for me. Nothing against “Michael Crichton,” he’s a great author. I have read other books by him. This one was a chore to read and reading should never be that way. Also the narrator was dreadful. Very boring.

Halfway decent Grisham Story
Revisado: 10-11-23
Ok, so this book was very slow, almost too slow. I loved the Jake Brigance novels, so maybe I was expecting that. This was a different kind of story…it was literally going to be a 3-Star book for me until maybe midway and then it ramped up. The ending definitely saved this book. I’m sure there are people that love this book; just didn’t do it for me. But I did find myself finally enthralled and captivated midway and then for the final. Grisham is definitely a favorite of mine and hey let’s face it. We’re not gunna love everything. That’s what makes us human. For those who have never seen the film or read the book, give it a whirl; you may love it. It was just alright for me.
As for the narrator, I am not a fan of Scott Brick. I do not like his voice, he’s dull and boring. I find myself falling asleep and having to rewind parts of the story over and over and over again. I don’t know what it is; can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it’s the sound of his voice. But I’ve listened to a lot of books and most narrators are usually enjoyable. But Scott just does not work for me. I rolled my eyes when I realized he was the narrator. Boring, dull, and very monotonous.

Jack Ryan Is America's Favorite Son....
Revisado: 07-15-23
Whewwww. What a rush. What a ride. You must be this tall to ride this ride. What a
Great introductory chapter in Jack Ryan's New life of Presidency. I really wasn't a fan of Clancy's last book, "Debt of Honor." This book completely reminded me of why I love Jack Ryan and why he is my favorite character of all time. I would give anything for this book to become a film. Such a good good book. I found myself a few times pumping my fist in the air, shouting out loud, "Way to freaking go Jack!" This is Clancy at his best showing his favorite son and mine, President Jack Ryan. The narrator was just ok for me, He wasn't spectacular but he wasn't altogether terrible. His voice was very monotone and sometines I had to take a quick break and reset my mind so I could stay engaged. In conclusion, This book ranks up there with Hunt for Red October and Clear and Present Danger. Can't wait to see you again soon Jack. Whew. Now, I need a scotch, this book was intense....

Read it as a kid; and now I’ve just finished reading it to my 7 yr old princess. And we both loved it so much. And I can’t wait to read it to my grandkids. An amazing story for the mind of a precious child; love Ronald Dahl’s stories and I’m so happy to be able to share my childhood stories with my daughter….

The Next Great Saga
Revisado: 04-02-23
What an amazing epic story. I enjoyed it immensely. The Wheel of Time definitely ranks up there with the amazing sagas; such as LOTR and Starwars. Robert Jordan creates this magical world where the reader is instantly transported and placed on the journey to the Eye of the World. I definitely recommend this book; but you must remember this is a journey, not a sprint. So, in closing, Saddle up readers and get ready for the next Great Adventure.
PS. And the fact that the Story is Narrated by Rosamund Pike is awesome. She plays Morraine in the tv show adaptation; which is amazing I might add. this was a very favorable experience...Can't wait for book 2....

Another Stephen King Masterpiece
Revisado: 10-22-22
What a fantastic journey this has been. A journey to a faraway land, a journey with magical creatures and beings. A tale of horror, mystery, love and friendship. The Master as always delivers the most wonderful story and brings us along for the ride. I loved this story. King never disappoints me. There were times I found myself wondering how this story would end but kept going. If you're a Stephen King fan, I will say this one is different. It's not your typical King book, but that's what makes it good. Stephen delights us with change and he creates the most wonderful story that takes us on a wonderful journey. Loved this from start to finish. Well worth the read. If you're on the fence, definitely take the journey; you'll be glad you did.
