Historia
Will Fairweather is getting old. His back aches, his bowels misbehave if he eats spicy food and he’s completely lost his sense of rhythm. Life has taught him not to take risks, but even that hasn’t stopped his marriage hitting the rocks too. The last thing he needs is a surprise call from Red Fairweather, devil-may-care rock god—and the father Will hasn’t seen for thirty years. If Will’s old before his time, Red’s the boy who won’t grow up.

So, so good!
Revisado: 03-27-25
I started out wanting to punch the main character, Will- which, I suppose, is entirely the point. I am 47, and here's this whiny twit complaining about being old at 45. But learning his reasons, and waiting him find his way, with the help of his forever young father, and long suffering wife was a hell of a story! I spent the last hour of the book very emotional - both in tears and laughing out loud! I highly recommend this- and all of Nick's books that I've read/ listened to so far.

Historia
The last thing Alice expects to see at her husband’s graveside on his birthday is a giant, talking frog. On closer inspection, it’s a grown man dressed as Kermit. Turns out Alice’s husband is buried next to Ben’s older brother Harry, who—as a parting practical joke in his will—insisted that Ben visit his grave each year, on this specific day, dressed in an as-yet-undisclosed pageant of embarrassing fancy dress.

One of the best books I've experienced in a long time...
Revisado: 03-20-25
This book is about loss, and heartache- but also, so much more! I listened to this at work, and it had me both crying to myself, but also laughing out loud. This book is extremely well written, and the whole concept was original and well thought out. I really connected with the characters, and I loved the way you get a whole story of a decade of their lives, mostly in one day meetups. I can't recommend this enough, especially if you have lost people close to you. I'll definitely be seeking out more of Mr Spalding's work!

After the killing of a prominent mob lawyer, NYPD homicide detectives Jacob Jackson and Caitlin Grimes start receive chilling, written “rules” for how to commit the perfect murder. "Rule number one for the perfect murder: Evidence is your enemy. Leave none behind." Jackson (Reid Scott) and Grimes (Cobie Smulders) race to find the killer, setting them on a collision course with the city’s crime underbelly, and a perpetrator who seems happy to toy with them. “Rule number two. No crimes of passion. The perfect murder is always business, never pleasure.”

Historia
If the broken neon signs, shuttered storefronts, and sub-standard housing didn’t tip you off, you’ve just wandered into the city of “Undisclosed”. You don’t want to be caught dead here, because odds are you just might find yourself rising from the grave. That hasn’t stopped tourists from visiting to check out the unusual phenomena that hangs around our town like radioactive fallout. Interdimensional parasites feeding on human hosts, paranormal cults worshipping demonic entities, vengeful teenage sorcerers, we’ve got it all.

All 4 of these books are crazy as hell, and I love it! I listen at work to books, and this series got me through part of Peak Season at UPS! Lots of giggles, and outright laughter, and many, many WTF looks!

Great fun!
Revisado: 09-09-24
I love these stories, and I like the whole take on the super hero story. One thing that is starting to drive me a little nuts, though, is the author's nearly constant use of hair color as descriptor. By book 3, we are WELL aware of which is the "blonde friend", or the silver haired man". It's a bit distracting! But, other than that (and the narrator's droll tone when not doing voices), these books are definitely worth a listen!

Interesting twist!
Revisado: 02-25-23
It took me a minute to wrap my head around Moriarty being the "good guy", but it was quite good! I hate to admit I've never actually read Sherlock Holmes (I've seen movies, TV, etc), but I believe this has actually inspired me to do so. This is definitely worth a listen!

Wren’s closest friend, her anchor since childhood, is dead. Stewart Beasley. Gone. She can’t quite believe it, and she definitely can’t bring herself to google what causes an aneurysm. Instead of weeping or facing reality, Wren has been dreaming up the perfect funeral plans, memorial buffets, and processional songs for everyone from the corner bodega owner to her parents (none of whom show signs of imminent demise).

Revisado: 03-17-22
I mean, it WAS sad. But not all sad- it made me laugh out loud, it made me angry, it made me cry. It made me want to hold my best friend a little closer to me. Really, really good book.

I played all those cool video games. I watched all those movies. I even read the books. In most of 'em, the hero shoots the bad guys, drives a sweet car, never gets hungry, and always seems to get laid by the end. Yeah. Whatever. I gotta be straight with you about why I wrote this journal, and it comes down to one thing, the apocalypse kinda sucks. It doesn’t meet my expectations at all.

Don't believe the Negs
Revisado: 09-02-21
To the people who hated it: I feel like maybe you didn't like it because you related too much to the dips**ts he refers to so often! This book seems "shallow" at first glance, for lack of a better term, but it has more depth than a lot of the books I've read lately. It made me think, it made me giggle, made me smile wryly (I love some good snark), and ultimately, it made me cry. I though overall, what made it so good, was that it was HONEST.

Fun listen!
Revisado: 03-07-21
I saw another review that said this book was crass and vulgar... well, it kinda is, but that's just because it's from the point of view of a 30-ish guy! This was kind of a nice change from other Zombie fiction, in that it was more about the characters than the actual zombies. All in all it was a fun listen- and the narrator is hilarious!

Great story, likable characters...
Revisado: 05-24-19
Honestly, I enjoyed the books as far as the story, characters, and etc. The only thing that drove me absolutely crazy was the use of the word "since" (495 times, according to the word search on Kindle). The phrase "since it was true" was used so many times that I wanted to scream, quite frankly. But really, that's my only complaint about the books!
