Historia
When Kaye Bennett, matriarch of the Bennett family, summons her adult children to the shore house, she anticipates a vacation full of nostalgia. It’s a chance to relive the carefree joy of summers past: basking in the hot sun, cooling off in the surf, and enjoying long, relaxing evenings watching fireflies on the deck. But when Kaye’s son and daughter arrive, late and uncooperative, it becomes clear the family desperately needs to reconnect.

Tedious

I really wanted to like this book but I could not get into it. The characters very unlikeable and the story didn't have direction. I couldn't finish it.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. I've read a lot of WWII fiction, however, this is the first book I've read that talks of Bletchley Park and the significant role the people there played in the war. It's fascinating and the story telling really draws you in.

She would have preferred a smaller, more intimate celebration, but her bossy mother-in-law has taken charge and her fiancé hasn’t seemed to notice.

Hard to get through
Revisado: 05-18-21
I was expecting a light, fun beach read however this book is quite the opposite. It's a story of a physically abusive relationship, terminal illness and untimely death. The story is very slow moving and by the time it wrapped up I felt such sadness for what I had just listened to. I do think the narrator did a good job with a difficult book.
