Insightful and Instructive
Revisado: 03-22-21
Compelling all the way through. A detailed examination of Negotiation and helpful tactics to improve your listening skills.
Although the author honed this treatise of negotiation in the field as a FBI hostage negotiator, the deep insights are digestibly translated for the corporate world.
If I was to take a star; it would be to ask the author if this treatise has served more to lure in CEO’s looking to outwit one another, rather than bolster communication with humanity in general? I wonder what insights Mr. Voss has gained in the meantime and am sure this is what he is selling currently. An update from the older man would be welcome.

Historia
In this characteristically turbocharged new book, celebrated Rolling Stone journalist Matt Taibbi provides an insider's guide to the variety of ways today's mainstream media tells us lies. In the internet age, the press have mastered the art of monetizing anger, paranoia, and distrust. Taibbi, who has spent much of his career covering elections in which this kind of manipulative activity is most egregious, provides a rich taxonomic survey of American political journalism's dirty tricks.

They emphasize meeting the ordinary situations of life with intelligence and compassion under all circumstances. Slogans include, "Don't be swayed by external circumstances," "Be grateful to everyone," and "Always maintain only a joyful mind."

Best Story Ive Ever Read
Revisado: 09-03-20
Yes. I read this originally a couple years ago. It made a significant impression on my roommate in college. He assured me I needed to read it. It took me 5 years after that to open the book.
Now I’m happy this is recorded, in a great audio version, so this story can be shared to millions.

Historia
Understanding how brains produce consciousness is one of the great scientific challenges of our age. Some philosophers argue that consciousness is something "extra", beyond the physical workings of the brain. Others think that if we persist in our standard scientific methods, our questions about consciousness will eventually be answered. And some suggest that the mystery is so deep, it will never be solved.

Amazing
Revisado: 04-28-20
Unique and thorough explanation of panpsychism and consciousness’ role in reality. Or better yet: an exploration of the nuances and research that make the consciousness ‘problem’ the most interesting and pertinent question to answer in our time... reading this book could save the world.

Historia
This pioneering account sets out to understand the structure of the human brain - the place where mind meets matter. Until recently, the left hemisphere of our brain has been seen as the "rational" side, the superior partner to the right. But is this distinction true? Drawing on a vast body of experimental research, Iain McGilchrist argues while our left brain makes for a wonderful servant, it is a very poor master.

This book was suggested to me by a good friend years ago. It was daunting in length, but well well worth the time. Incredibly well thought and enlightening. Every investigation necessary and informative: giving you a new perspective on all aspects of the world you live in.
