The author tries to re-boot her franchise with a prequel. Unfortunately no characters have the personality of her original characters. The main characters gushiness about his girlfriend is repeated over and over and over. Big disappointment.

This book is an excellent memoir (I.e. near death shark attack) but also an expose of astonishingly horrible on-going bad behavior by the author’s man/boy colleagues at Facebook. Capitalism and male toxicity at its worst. And the author fully participated and thrived in that culture for many years. So lots of dirt on FB….Enjoy😀

Ridiculous plotting and characters and predictable twists. It is a third-rate detective story. The author’s view of psychotherapy and what psychotherapists actually do is so far removed from reality that this terrible book should be classified as Fantasy.

The plot is contrived and foolish. The characters are flat. There are no meaningful themes and the structure is annoying. It is filled with absurd coincidences designed to move the “story” along. There is absolutely nothing good about this book and I should have quit when I was halfway through. TOTAL waste of a credit…..this is not even decent “summer” reading. Don’t waste your time.

This is an excellent and insightful memoir. Some will accuse the author of name-dropping but all those names come to the author honestly by blood or through his “Tom Jones”-like adventures. Dunne has led an eventful life that he’s able to recall in humorous detail when necessary and in sadness as well. He writes movingly of his murdered sister and others in his extended literary and Hollywood families….both their considerable talents and their messy foibles. Dunne writes (and narrates) his story very well.
Don’t miss his best movie (portraying a character he compares to himself), the Scorsese-directed “After Hours.” Strongly recommend this book.

This is an excellent story that’s been turned into at least three movie versions. Rarely is a psychopath able to get one’s sympathy (or at least a mix of sympathy and disdain) as Tom Ripley can. The narrator makes it an even better yarn.

I don’t often say this about a book, but I didn’t want it to end. I’m left wanting to hear more about this unique and fascinating woman. Hoping for a sequel to finish Clytemnestra’s engaging story. Also performed with pitch-perfect narration.

The author does an admirable job of bringing the characters and events of the Challenger disaster to life. Excellent narration as well.

There is NOTHING I liked about this book. Someone on BookTok recommended it as a terrific gay novel but it is horrible. I’ve read plenty of bad gay novels and this might be the worst. Don’t waste your time or money.

This is a tough listen but well worth it….how autocracy and dictatorship comes in minutes and moments, not all at once. A warning for America in 2024. It can happen here. Support Democracy and vote Democratic.
