Historia
It's time for the annual Recipe Days bake-off in Lubbock, Texas. Soccer moms and grandmothers gather to show off their family recipes, learn new secrets for the perfect shortcake, and perhaps earn a chance to be on the famous cooking show, How Would You Cook It, Then? When the bake-off is crashed by a federation of pro wrestlers - including American Badass, Jersey Devil Jill, Tiny Giant, The Village Person, Jonah the Whale, the Hellbillies, and the fan favorite Xombie - all hell is set to break loose. Your heart beats faster as you anticipate who will come out on top in the ultimate showdown of the century: soccer moms or pro wrestlers.

How do you make zombies and Pro-wrestling boring?
Revisado: 01-18-22
Really struggled to finish this one. Just slow, poorly paced, uninteresting meh. I really thought pro-wrestling and zombies? This will be great, if not sci-fi channel fantastic, but no.
Just no.

Historia
As this urgent, genre-defying book opens, a woman who has recently been elevated to prominence for her social media posts travels around the world to meet her adoring fans. She is overwhelmed by navigating the new language and etiquette of what she terms "the portal," where she grapples with an unshakable conviction that a vast chorus of voices is now dictating her thoughts. When existential threats--from climate change and economic precariousness to the rise of an unnamed dictator and an epidemic of loneliness--begin to loom, she posts her way deeper into the portal's void.

Hard to follow and sad
Revisado: 09-20-21
The beginning of this book was hard to follow. So much jumping around from real life to online life and back made it confusing if not paying close attention. Lots of meme speak and irreverent jokes, which was great, but again if listening while commuting, can make for some 'what?' moments.
About halfway through the book, most of the silly drops away, and leaves only hopeful sadness.
Good book, but damn.

Historia
Brandon Andrew Morgan wants and lives a normal life. Well, mostly, anyway. Between his crazy roommates, slacker brother, and the intolerable customers that plague his job, Brandon certainly attempts to make the most of things. But Brandon's world is about to be turned upside down when mankind decides to face a possible doomsday event by doing what they do best: making it worse. Much worse, in fact. Implementing the new Omega Vaccine as a preventative, let's just say the world is not prepared for the side effects that weren't posted on the label.

Meh, at best.
Revisado: 09-07-21
I struggled to get through this. This is the first book I had to stop listening to for a while because it was just so dreadfully meh.
The story itself was okay. It seemed kike the writer had seen a Kevin Smith movie and thought 'I can do that' but just didn't quite hit the mark. There were a few funny moments, but they were few and far between. Most of the time I just wanted it to hurry up and get on with it. The Jesus portion of the story was good, but seemed to just fizzle out after some time.
The performance was not my favorite. The inflection used by the narator grated on my nerves, and there seemed to be a disconnect with what was going on in the story, and how it was delivered. There were a bunch of hard "P"s that should have been fixed in editing. Some of the lines seemed as though they were rerecorded and just pasted in as they didn't have the same cadence as the line before.
Overall, it was an okay book. Some interesting concepts, but just missed the mark in the level of humor, story telling and performance. Very meh.
