Any additional comments?
I had asked an entrepreneur some questions about how she made her money really. During the exchange she mentioned that she was reading this book and that she enjoyed it. Having seen it listed on Audible I thought I would give it a try. I was not sorry. I will listen to it again. The reading style is unusual, but did not detract from the information or enjoyment for me.

Where does The Eye of the World rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It is right up there with my favorites.
What did you like best about this story?
The characters became my acquaintances as the story progressed, I got to know them and I cared about them. Although, when I first started listening to the book, I thought "I don't know about this...", it caught me up and I wanted to keep on listening. When it ended I was sad to be done,... ...now I need to get the next one!

Historia
In the winter of 1918, at the height of World War I, history's most lethal influenza virus erupted in an army camp in Kansas, moved east with American troops, then exploded, killing as many as 100 million people worldwide. It killed more people in 24 weeks than AIDS has killed in 24 years, more in a year than the Black Death killed in a century. But this was not the Middle Ages, and 1918 marked the first collision between modern science and epidemic disease.

Suprise! Thoroughly Enjoyed.
Revisado: 02-10-13
Would you consider the audio edition of The Great Influenza to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version of The Great Influenza.
What did you like best about this story?
The pace was actually quite fast, and kept it interesting, with much historical interest.
Any additional comments?
Some portions of the book seemed overly dramatic; however, this was a huge event that we learn little about. People living now generally have no idea how serious this was. It is the reason that we hear so much concern for the various influenza out-breaks around the world. The book is enjoyable to listen to. I recommend it to anyone interested in historical medicine.

The behemoth is the fiercest creature in the British navy. It can swallow enemy battleships with one bite. The Darwinists will need it, now that they are at war with the Clanker powers. Deryn is a girl posing as a boy in the British Air Service, and Alek is the heir to an empire posing as a commoner. Finally together aboard the airship Leviathan, they hope to bring the war to a halt. But when disaster strikes the Leviathan's peacekeeping mission, they find themselves alone and hunted in enemy territory.

Great sequel.
Revisado: 09-04-12
What made the experience of listening to Behemoth the most enjoyable?
Alan Cumming has really done a great job with this one. All the characters are distinct, and he reads clearly and with emotion. As a sequel Scott Westerfeld has kept it interesting; I guess it is really more of a continuation.
What other book might you compare Behemoth to and why?
This is in it's own category; sort of cross-genre alternative historic novel steampunk thriller. So, I don't have a comparison.
Which scene was your favorite?
The chase scene in Istanbul, with the Germans chasing Alec through the streets and he meets his new allies.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
It made me laugh when Darren thought to use the spices to attack the hijacker; reminds you to be creative and observant.
Any additional comments?
I was worried that the second book in the series would not be as good as the first. But I am enjoying it just as much and looking forward to the third.

Science starts to get interesting when things don't make sense. Science's best-kept secret is that there are experimental results and reliable data that the most brilliant scientists can neither explain nor dismiss. If history is any precedent, we should look to today's inexplicable results to forecast the future of science. Michael Brooks heads to the scientific frontier to meet 13 modern-day anomalies and discover tomorrow's breakthroughs.

I do not know, did not read print version. Had time to listen though, on the way to and from work.

Perhaps "The Viral Storm".
What does James Adams bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It renewed some scientific passion for me, made me feel excited about science.

It is the cusp of World War I, and all the European powers are arming up. The Austro-Hungarians and Germans have their Clankers, steam-driven iron machines loaded with guns and ammunition. Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this audiobook to anyone that likes alternate histories or the steam punk genre.
What other book might you compare Leviathan to and why?
Ooh, I don't know that I can compare this book to anything I have read. It is different from what I usually read, but had an intersection of topics I typically read, like history (particularly turn-of-the-past-century and WWI) and science fiction. I have always loved the alternate history or alternate universe or alternate reality concept, like Star Trek's
Which character – as performed by Alan Cumming – was your favorite?
Of course I like Deryn Sharp, I always like stories about young women struggling to do what they want or become what they want; I have a daughter and I want her to become whatever she wants. I love stories with what my friends call warrior girls, like Dark Angel. But I especially like the boffin Dr. Nora Barlow -- Alan Cumming does her so very well, I smile at the remarks of this confident and intelligent woman.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Don't know, sorry.
Any additional comments?
I haven't completed listening to this book yet, but love it, and the reading by Alan Cummings is great (although I can tell that it is sometimes a bit difficult to switch accents between Dylan and Alek)! I will want to
