Historia
"The dear God placed me in a position in which I had a duty to call black 'black' and white 'white'." These words were spoken by Cardinal Clemens August von Galen, the bishop of the diocese of Münster in Germany from 1933 to 1946. In so doing, he risked death at the hands of the Nazis, one Gestapo leader even urging that he be publicly hanged. Joseph Goebbels and others in the Nazi leadership, knowing the bishop's popularity, advised waiting, subscribing to the adage that revenge is a dish best served cold.

Very Informative
Revisado: 11-15-17
This was a very informative biography about a great man. It was educational more than enjoyable. But not too boring. It helped to hear it read aloud.

Historia
Already infamous for the arbitrary, paranoid persecution of its own citizens throughout much of the 20th century, the Soviet Union - as is revealed in John Koeher’s revelatory, eye-opening exposé - also waged a vicious espionage campaign against the Catholic Church and its followers. From the persecution of local priests to an assassination order against Pope John Paul II, the KGB viewed Catholicism as a threat to stability in Eastern Europe and treated the church as an enemy of the State. Lifetime journalist and former U.S. Army Intelligence Officer John Koehler has written the definitive book on this startling history.

boring and confusing.

The story is boring and confusing. The narrator is very hard to listen to. I wouldn't recommend this book.

Historia
In My Battle against Hitler, von Hildebrand tells of the scorn and ridicule he endured for sounding the alarm when many still viewed Hitler as a positive and inevitable force. He tells how he defiantly challenged Nazism in the public square, prompting the German ambassador in Vienna to describe him to Hitler as "the architect of the intellectual resistance."

Food for thought
Revisado: 11-08-17
Dietrich von Hildebrand doesn't tell a good story. He is too factual, but assumes that the reader knows a good deal about Austrian politics in the 1930's, so there are several holes in the story for a newcomer to his history. However, the journal articles included at the end provide excellent food for thought.

Historia
The poetry and the power of the word of God comes alive in this informative presentation that is meant to instill in all lovers of the Bible a deeper intimacy with the living Word of God, the logos, the Christ. Dr. Healy skillfully fuses together the history of salvation in Hebrew Scriptures with the culmination of that history as spiritually understood in the New Testament. Nevertheless, only a person who is truly looking for the inspiration that comes from the Holy Spirit can truly unlock the meaning of the inspired word.
