Historia
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

So good I've started the series for the 3rd time
Revisado: 02-14-25
The book takes place one hundred years after the Galactics have took over this corner of the Galaxy. James McGill becomes part of a team of Earth mercenaries, who serve those who can pay. James and the other characters are so human in such unhuman situations. Funny, fun and engaging. Enjoyed the ride.

Historia
In the not-too-distant future, a 21-member crew launches from Earth. Their mission: to establish a temporary colony on Mars. Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. Now, a thousand years later, the resources needed to sustain life are running out, and the very existence of the Mars colony is threatened. Humankind has only one option–to return to its home planet.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I sampled this book (? play ?). In the first few minutes, I knew the characters were great, actors were great, but even BETTER, the STORY was GREAT. Thank you for making my commute livable...

Evolution versus Monkeys
Revisado: 12-31-24
I like the premise, a generation ship meets up with the outcome of terraforming and genetic manipulation. Good character development especially the non-human characters.
I'd recommend the book. I'm tempted to get the next book in the series. Curious to see what's next. Isn't that the main reason we read 😎

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

Herbert's Words are still Awesome
Revisado: 08-05-24
I hadn't re-read Dune in 15 years. Frank Herbert's story remains topical, with political messages as clear as those of John Steinbeck. I highly recommend the original words and story.
The audio actors were spot on.
Thank you 😁♥️😁

The whole book was a good listen. The Epilog was beautiful, some of the best writing in the series. At least from my perspective, and undoubtedly that of T. Rex.
