The book was very engaging. A totally fascinating story. The twist at the end took me totally by surprise.

Cannot understand this narrative

I am very hard of hearing and wear a cochlear implant as well as a hearing aid in my other ear. After multiple tries; adjusting the speed and the volume, I have given up and removed the book from my library. My speech therapist listened to a short portion of chapter 1 and determined that the lilt of the narration was what was making it impossible for me to understand. If at all possible, I would like to have my credit returned.

Thank you. This is the first time I’ve had a problem of this nature and I use Audible as part of my hearing rehabilitation.

Confusing

While I enjoyed each segment I found the jumps forward and backward in time very confusing. Her first book, Unorthodox, was much better.

Excellent Book ? Poor Mastering

I loved the story and was sorry to see it end. However, I would have preferred a happier ending. Wilhelm gives us enough detail about the characters and the setting that we have no trouble imagining them.

The mastering, though was very poor! In quite a few places, a paragraph was repeated. Also, I had to download both parts of the book twice because the originals were completely garbled from some point into each part until the end.

A wonderful book

I really enjoyed the book. The characters were all three-dimensional, and the narrator was truly excellent. The ending of the book took me completely by surprise. I was left wanting to hear more.

The book is excellent, but...

As always, Patricia Cornwell has crafted a magnificent story.

Unfortunately, the reading was poor. The reader frequently emphasized the wrong word in a sentence, making comprehension of what the author was saying much too difficult. I found this so distracting that I came close to simply closing the book a number of times. Also, the reader's pauses are far too long. I agree with another reviewer. These pauses should have been edited.

I plan to read this book again. But, next time I'll pick up a printed version.

Gripping

A great story. Yes, you know from the beginning that the protagonist will survive because the book is written in the first person. Nevertheless it kept my interest all the way to the end.
