Historia
Receptionist Pam Beesly and accountant Angela Martin had very little in common when they toiled together at Scranton’s Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. But, in reality, the two bonded in their very first days on set and, over the nine seasons of the series’ run, built a friendship that transcended the show and continues to this day.

As a fan of The Office Ladies podcast, I've been looking forward to the book release. Such a great summary of the highlights from the podcast as well as loads of additional content. Makes me even more grateful for my BFFs. Can't wait for the book tour.

More Perveen Please!
Revisado: 08-06-18
I appreciate good writing and good storytelling, and this book has both. I thought the author weaved together the stories of Perveen and the widows very nicely. Most people really liked Perveen as a character, and I completely agree. She stands out even more because of the time and place--India in the early 1900's.
The author also gave us a peek into what life would have been like in that time period. I'll be eager for another book about Perveen, definitely a heroine I want to root for.

Historia
A holy man to Hindus, a hero to Muslims, and a criminal to the British, Mohandas K. Gandhi was an inspiring figure of the 20th century, a man whose quest to live in accord with God’s highest truth led him to initiate massive campaigns against racism, violence, and colonialism.

Not For Me...
Revisado: 05-23-18
I know. I know. It’s terrible of me to give Gandhi only one star. I was hoping to learn more about this incredible man but he was so humble, I got tired of it. He was so self deprecating (which is a wonderful trait) but for a massive book, it didn’t keep my interest.
I hear there are many wonderful biographies about Gandhi and I will eagerly pick up one of those. But I can’t recommend his autobiography because it was so bland.

Not Quite as Good as the First
Revisado: 05-23-18
The heroine got on my nerves in this one. She was so back and forth and couldn't make a decision for longer than a few minutes. Fun series. I wish the author would develop the political side story more. I thought it was a cool addition to the storyline.

When Helene Hanff makes an innocent inquiry about the possibility of purchasing hard-to-find books through Marks and Co., Booksellers, she begins a 20-year love affair with Frank Doel, the proper English bookseller who answers her letter and sends along her first order in the fall of 1949. They are two very unlikely correspondents.

One of the Most Charming Books Ever Written
Revisado: 05-23-18
Sigh. I don't know that there could be a book more perfect. A true story where the author gave us a glimpse into a 20 year friendship. I liked having the different narrators, it helped keep everyone straight.

Guilty Pleasure
Revisado: 05-23-18
Guilty. I like this series. And yes. I love The Bachelor too.
Even though the main character is quite irrational at times, she still is likeable. I enjoyed the added political element and wish the author would have developed that more.

I Think This Will Become Foundational
Revisado: 05-23-18
This is one of those books that I feel like is going to become more and more impressive to me as time goes on. After finishing it, I thought, “That was good. Worth the buck I paid.” But later, I found myself starting to ask some of the questions he posed.
As a teacher, I felt like the examples he used to drive the pints home were spot on. I wish sooo much I could teach so succinctly. Proof how important a good example is.
Anyway, I ramble. Definitely a good read, probably his ideas will become pretty foundational for me before too long.

Historia
As she was digging deep into the lives of community members, Heather Lende, the obituary writer for her tiny hometown newspaper in Haines, Alaska, began to notice something. Even the crustiest old Alaskan sourpuss who died in a one-room cabin always had Halloween candy for the neighborhood kids, and the eccentric owner of the seafood store who regularly warned her about government conspiracies knew how to be a true friend - his memorial service was packed.

Great Narration
Revisado: 06-27-16
Charming book with a great narration. The writer read it herself, she's not a professional reader, but it wouldn't have been as meaningful if another person read such a personal story.

Just Really Easy to Enjoy
Revisado: 03-25-16
These were all fantastic productions of Jane Austen's works. Engaging, strong talent, and good abridgments (is that a word?). I thought Northanger was the best, Pride and Prejudice was actually my least fave. With that said, they were still all EXCELLENT.
