Almost through...
Revisado: 12-09-17
Slogging through the non-Bevines. This book was most excellent and really broke the often used - yet not completely unwelcome - formulaic structure of most of Salvatore’s novels. It was a shame we couldn’t hear it read in Victor’s alternatingly powerful and dulcet tones. Not a bad performance, just not fantastic either. One more to go, lads and lasses.

Historia
Drizzt Do’Urden has settled in the windswept towns of Icewind Dale. There, he encounters a young barbarian named Wulfgar, captured in a raid and made the ward of a grizzled dwarf name Bruenor. With Drizzt’s help, Wulfgar will grow from a feral child to a man with the heart of a dwarf, the instincts of a savage, and the soul of a hero. But it will take even more than that to defeat the demonic power of Crenshininbon, the fabled Crystal Shard.

Classic Fantasy with a Message.
Revisado: 03-04-16
Oh Victor, you are oh so amazing. How you can take the beloved Salvatore books of my youth and have me fall for them all over again is beyond me. High Fantasy with endearing characters that make you have hope for the world. I still get teary-eyed at Drizzt's positivity and indomitable spirit, both during the tale and in his journal entries. Battle sequences are realistic; Salvatore has a true understanding of melee combat. At the same time though, I can almost hear the D20s rolling. Fantastic author, BEST NARRATOR.

Wonderful
Revisado: 02-15-16
The narrator made this fantastic, yet sometimes slow novel every bit as wonderful as reading it. His voices were varied and full of character, especially Merlin's. These books made me rethink or reaffirm many of my core beliefs, which I think is a wonderful quality possessed by only the greatest of literary works.

A Fantastic Voyage...
Revisado: 12-31-15
The movie "John Carter" brought me here, and even more than the movie this book surprised and delighted me. It is alarming how often the most unsung books are the most heartwarming and cherished. A tale of a man finding his true calling, his true love, and most importantly, his true self in the most foreign of settings. With the direct and transparent language of a soldier, Burroughs takes the reader on an amazing sci-fi journey that rivals those of Jules Verne and C. S. Lewis. I hope with sincerity that this series one day gets its due in the annals of literary history. Hopefully the new owners of the Barsoom series' film rights will bring it to new fans like myself.
