Book 3 of The Z Chronicles. No big surprise that we find out that Lori is not the only hybrid. There turns out to be many others others out there like her. One guy dressed in black tried to gather the hybrids together to start a new society. Things don't turn out exactly as he planned. Lori becomes a little too dangerous to remain with her and heads off on her own again without the others for their safety. Virginia's small group finally find safe sanctuary. A decent ending to what feels like a trilogy but an ending where the author could choose to continue the story later on.

How The End All Began
Revisado: 08-28-20
Was short. Could have a little more potential but thought it was a good start. Looking over other reviews, saw some common complaints of it being short and somewhat lacking. That's okay, I saw it as a preview. This was a true beginning for me to this series. Already seeing there being many installments in this zombie series, I'm curious to see how it will all play out.

Revisado: 08-07-20
Alright, this story is getting interesting and I'm starting to like it a little bit more. At the end of the first book Lori and another survivor go on a supply run. They run into trouble and just her gets away. When Lori makes it back to the shelter where they've been staying, she noticed things are not right. Two of her friends dead, eaten by zombies, and her sister is missing. Lori, too, is attacked by zombies and bitten. Listener might think the first book had a crap ending but this is titled the Z Chronicles. Lori is rescued by a small group that was close by and is reunited with her sister Virginia. Surprisingly, but not too surprisingly, Lori does not succumb to her injuries and turn. She heals up without turning into a zombie but her wounds look odd. We're introduced to another group of survivors taking shelter at a high school in a town not too far away. We get a some background stories of the early days of the zombie outbreak. Lori and Virginia's new small group join up with the larger group. Lori starts to notice some change but tries to keep quiet about them. The zombie horde on the way they have to prepare for.
Not to give away too much in this summary and review but to see Lori become something more than human but still not zombie is exciting. Making this zombie saga a little different and interesting than some others. Look forward to continuing the Z Chronicles.

Historia
Stephanie Kelton's brilliant exploration of modern monetary theory (MMT) dramatically changes our understanding of how we can best deal with crucial issues ranging from poverty and inequality to creating jobs, expanding health care coverage, climate change, and building resilient infrastructure. Any ambitious proposal, however, inevitably runs into the buzz saw of how to find the money to pay for it, rooted in myths about deficits that are hobbling us as a country.

Revisado: 08-06-20
If I could this a higher rating I definitely would. I couldn't recommend book to people enough. Whether you get this book in hard copy, ebook or audiobook, it's a great and useful addition to your library. I'm already familiar with Stephanie Kelton and Modern Monetary Theory but this was a joy to listen. A good beginner's introduction to MMT. Stephanie does a great job debunking the many myths of federal deficits and the National Debt. But no one should expect this to cover everything encompassed in the sphere of Modern Monetary Theory. However, many are starting to figure out that almost everything we thought to be true about economics, macroeconomics in particular, and federal spending is actually incorrect.

Historia
All of civilization is drawing its last breaths as the grip of the zombie apocalypse tightens on the world. In the last days of government efforts to stem the spreading plague, Lori’s parents are taken away when found to be infected - leaving her to look out for her two younger siblings, Jay and Virginia. Barely an adult in her own right, Lori must keep them alive, armed only with her wits and the little training her father’s "prepper" hobby instilled in her.

Opening scene of this story starts with two individuals we assume are research scientists in a lab within a government military facility studying a zombie specimen. They hope to go out to get a fresh specimen. We switch over to two young adult sisters, who were trained by their father with prepping and survival skills and how use now and arrows, and their much younger brother. Young brother doesn't last long. The two sisters, Lori and Virginia, meet and join up with Bob, an older grandfather like guy, and his two dogs. There are the regular slow dumb zombies and the more aggressive faster somewhat smarter zombies dubbed zombies 2.0. Story doesn't end well for most of the survivors that the listener has been introduced to so far but Lori and Virginia are tough and this is only the beginning. This was a good introduction to this series.

Though I read most of this book before getting the audio copy, this was Clive Baker's first full length novel I've listen. I was definitely not disappointed. And though I hadn't read any of his work until now, I've been a big fan of Clive Barker movies like Hellraiser, Candyman and Nightbreed.
This story is EPIC. It has it all. Love, hate, fantasy, horror and a little romance. Its epic in the sense there is an epic battle between Good and Evil. We are not always sure who or what is representing Good or who or what is representing Evil at all times. Some characters are both simple and complex. The ensuing battle spans across the country and across the decades. Couple generations of lives are caught up in this conflict. The survival of humanity and the very existence of reality are at stake. The villian of the story prefers the dark and hates everything the Light represents. But not even he is fully prepared for the evil he's about to unleash. And it all starts in a lonely postal room in the heart of America where lost mail is sorted. A crossroads of fate.

Matt Shaw Presents Amnesia, a new novel from author Matt Hickman. Six strangers: three men, three women, awake in a sterile medical facility. Apart from two of the group, their minds totally blank as to how they arrived there, or the purpose of their detainment. Locks have been secured on each of the doors and iron bars on the window - no way to escape. Surveillance cameras on the walls indicate that they are being studied.

Good twisted suspense thriller. Our first character we're introduced to is having a bit of bad financial luck in her life after losing her job and coming up short on rent. She sees an add for a medical drug trial. Our second character is also having financial difficulties, separated from his wife and son and in significant debt due to his gambling addiction. He also comes across the offer to participate in a clinical drug trial. The experimental medical drug trial study is supposedly a new breakthrough cure for cancer. Six people in all awaken in a medical facility unaware of how they arrived there. Only our first two characters have reliable memories of events before awakening in this strange place. The other subjects of the experimental drug trial, there's more to them than we first perceive. And the drug is not actually as presented. The drug trial study goes horribly wrong and all hell breaks loose. I personally wouldn't mind seeing this story turned into a movie.

Another fun exciting fantasy adventure by Jack Porter. Good story development and just enough sex scenes thrown in without overburdening the rest of the story. Good job by the narrator, Austin Walp. The Bastard is a thief, a rogue and, above all else, a charmer. He definitely has a way with the women but people generally like him. His looks certainly help out. From the start you can tell he really isn't a bad person.
On a hired job of kidnapping for ransom he is betrayed to take the fall and complete blame all because he tried to protect the virtue of the female mark. Since the kidnapped vixen was destined to become an addition to the King's harem, the kidnapping The Badtard played a role in was considered a crime against the King. So he was sentenced to death by hanging. He did hang by the nose but an enchantment saved his life from completing dying. He then sets out for revenge for being used, betrayed and slandered. Through the course of carrying out his revenge for being wronged, he discovered his true identity and that he is fated for something greater than just revenge. The ending of this audiobook gives the listener a feeling of greater things yet to come for the main character.

I haven't read or listen to very many survival stories. But this one was fairly good. Most survival stories I've noticed usually start with an EMP event, viral outbreak or zombie outbreak. I liked that this one started with a major epic natural disaster that sets off a chain of disastrous events. A mega earthquake that causes other major natural disasters like tsunami tidal waves and volcanic eruptions with rippling effects. Many die in the shockwave of earthquakes. Many after start their struggle for survival in their new reality. I usually laugh at doomsday preppers in real life but the survival preppers is a natural fit for this story.
