I wasnt sure how much i would enjoy this continuation of the eisenhorn/ravenor storyline but im happy i gave it a chance. It has a very surreal atmosphere and this is probably the best use of first person narrative the franchise has given us. The storyline feels very dream-like but still urgent and mysterious. The only warning I’ll give is that it is not a good entry point into this storyline, it should be listened to after the books that preceded it.

fantastic book that requires your full attention

For context, i usually listen to audiobooks while working and driving so when i started this book I realized i needed to pay more attention to the story because its really well told but frequently jumps to different points in time and tells multiple short stories about the members of the ghosts. It was easy to miss some of the transitions to different stories and could be confusing but it was such a good book that i went back for a second listen to pick up the details that i missed.

Favorite 40k series

I absolutely love the ciaphas cain series and would encourage anyone that enjoys a well told story with fantastic situational humor to listen to this audiobook. I gave the story four stars because the story was a little less engaging than the first book in the series and was a little too short for me.
