Sarina Bowen really knows how to leave you smiley and begging for more. I just can’t get enough of the Giltmakers. This book is fantastic. It’s fun, spicy, and sweet. It’s romantic and it has some action. It has a grumpy heroine and a sunshiny but bossy hero with a bad boy aura. The banter is top notch, as is the chemistry between Nash and Livia.

Both narrators did a wonderful job. They match the characters and complemented each other perfectly. It’s not surprising as they’re both great performers, but it’s still worth mentioning that they took the story to another level.

I couldn’t stop listening and I didn’t want it to end. It is one of the best audiobooks I have listened to in a while and my favorite one this year. I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book. The narrators did an amazing job telling the story and voicing the characters.

I think the story has a very compelling premise and setup, and the way it is told, in two different timelines, works pretty well. The main part is told in present time, but there are a few chapters set five years ago, so it wasn’t really difficult to follow, and the pieces were still connecting in a very linear way, so that was very smart. The story unfolds in a crescendo pace, and in the end it delivers a satisfying conclusion.

I really loved every single thing about this book. It has great characters, a very interesting approach to technology and surveillance, and a very good mystery with a twist. I couldn’t put it down when I read it and I didn’t want to stop listening once I got it in audio. I highly recommend this book. It’s a very good book.

Steadfast is the second book in the True North series, but it works perfectly fine as a standalone.

It is a second chance, good girl/bad boy, forbidden love slash secret relationship, small town romance set in Vermont.

The narrators did an amazing job. JF Harding was perfect as Jude, and Vanessa Edwin is always great. Their performance is outstanding. I loved every minute of it.

Sophie and Jude’s story is one of my favorites of all time. It is certainly not a light read, but it is so worth it. It is realistic, raw at times, heartbreaking, and also incredibly funny—the perfect balance that makes Sarina Bowen’s books an emotional rollercoaster. It also showcases her storytelling ability, her talent in developing ambiance and a cast filled with lovable characters that you can’t help but want to hang out with and get to know better, and a setting that is as harsh and bleak as it is beautiful and unique.

I highly recommend all her books and audiobooks, especially the other books in this series. They are all great.

I love listening to Sarina Bowen’s audiobooks. She writes my favorite books, but she also makes outstanding audiobooks. And I’m Your Guy is perfection. I mean, you can’t go wrong with Jacob Morgan and Teddy Hamilton. They are perfect for their characters, and they’re always perfect together. This book is so good! I’m going to be listening to it many, many times.

I’m Your Guy is one of the best books I’ve read this year, and I can’t wait for more Hockey Guys shenanigans. You know how it goes… I didn’t want to put this book down, and I didn’t want it to end. I loved Tommaso and Carter from the very first page, they’re just so great together. I would give this book all the stars in the Colorado sky.

I’m Your Guy is book 2 in the Hockey Guys series of M/M hockey romance standalones, so it can be read without reading the first book in the series. It has some of my favorite tropes, like opposites attract, a work relationship, forced proximity—an accidental roommate setup, and the best of them all: grumpy/sunshine.

I’m Your Guy has the perfect balance between lighthearted fun, hockey action, spice and steam, and emotional turmoil. There’s also plenty of longing from both guys, some dirty thoughts, and great inner dialogue that makes the tension and chemistry between Tom and Carter rise exponentially while they get to know each other.

Tommaso is a successful hockey player, a broody defenseman with a sketchy reputation who mostly keeps to himself and is completely dedicated to hockey. But his mother is coming to visit for Christmas, so he needs to have his new house furnished in, like, no time.

And so along comes Carter, the openly gay interior designer Tom runs into accidentally and hires out of desperation. Carter needs the job to save his business from bankruptcy and avoid homelessness. So the desperation goes both ways, but for very different reasons.

But the attraction between them also goes both ways, and the higher it builds the harder it is to control and resist. Tommaso and Carter face very different challenges along the story, and the way they face them and deal with their own feelings make this a very compelling story.

I loved everything about I’m Your Guy. The story is entertaining, touching, and steamy; it’s very well written and the pacing works really well. I also love the Denver/Boulder/Colorado setting. It gives you the small-town vibes with a side of city living.

And last but not least, I love how this new team is taking shape. The side characters add so much depth and ambiance to this story and this series. You have the Brooklyn Bruisers and Bess Beringer as old friends we love to spend time with, and the new guys we’re getting to know who make this team quirky and special.

There might be hints at the end about what’s coming next, and even if I’m reading them wrong, I just want them. All of them. All the hockey guys. I honestly can’t wait for more.

I love Sarina Bowen’s books. And Good as Good is one of my favorites. Jason Clarke is an excellent narrator, he’s always outstanding and he makes the characters come to life.

Now, Lessa Lamb is not terrible, but she is annoying. To me it feels like she’s not reading the room. In a way, she overacts and sounds cheerful even when she’s supposed to be feeling the opposite. It’s a bit disconcerting to be honest. I do like her voice, though. I just think that her performance doesn’t match the character at all.

First we had the Shipleys. Then along came the Rossis. And now we also have the Giltmakers! The World of True North is the gift that keeps on giving. Sarina Bowen has done it again, and I am never leaving.

Good as Gold is a standalone set in the World of True North. If you’re familiar with the True North series you will recognize many of the characters, but it can definitely be read without having read any other book in the series.

It is no secret I love the True North Series. I love everything about it. The characters, the settings, the Vermonty-ness, and of course, Sarina Bowen’s writing. I love her sense of humor and her ability to tell a story. And Good as Gold is exactly that: Gold.

Matteo Rossi left Vermont 14 years ago and never looked back. When he found out the girl of his dreams was definitely out of reach, dating his best friend, he decided to stay gone. He was broken-hearted but determined to make his own path. And he succeeded. Until his brother’s wedding gave him the opportunity to come back home. He decided he’d stayed away for far too long and he needed to make amends with his family.

Leila Giltmaker is single again. It took her a long time to come to the conclusion that her marriage was over. She is determined to take control of her own life and do what she wants to do with it. And that happens to be becoming a mother. Matteo Rossi’s sudden reappearance in Vermont shakes her to her core, making old feelings resurface. And one shot of tequila too many gives voice to her best and wildest idea: ask Matteo to be the father of her child.

I loved Matteo and Leila as people. And I loved the setup and their backstories, and how things evolved between them. They were best friends who had crushes on each other as teenagers but never said anything. So there’s a lot of longing and bottled-up lust waiting to be unleashed. It’s actually an exquisite exercise in building up to the explosion.

And the baby project turns out to be pretty fun. Matteo ends up staying in Vermont the whole summer, working as a bartender in the Gin Mill and managing a beer wagon for his uncle and Leila’s father. It’s really endearing to see them reconnect as friends and their initial approach to their project and how it changes without them even realizing it.

Then again, a summer is just a summer, and Matteo has a life and a business to run in Aspen. But one taste of the Vermont life he left behind plus the possibility of a future with the love of his life might have him reconsidering his life choices and fight for what he really wants.

There’s a lot of feelings in this book. There’s grief, there’s guilt, there’s longing, and there’s also love. There’s lots of laughter and so much heat. I love these books because they’re well balanced. They tug at my heartstrings—sometimes more forcefully than others—and make me feel, but in the best of ways. Good as Gold left me feeling happy and craving more. So much more. I can’t wait for more Giltmaker shenanigans.

Pure Hockey Magic

I can honestly say that if there’s one book I wished I could listen to again for the first time, it would be The New Guy. It gave me all the feels. All of them. It made my heart stop beating.

I feel like Teddy Hamilton and J.F. Harding did an amazing job portraying Gavin and Hudson flawlessly, their voices matching the characters perfectly. I loved listening to them. It enhances the whole experience.

The New Guy is an M/M hockey romance that can be considered a spin-off of the Brooklyn Bruisers/Brooklyn Hockey series, but is definitely a standalone.

The thing is, Sarina Bowen writes like a dream. She excels at it. And she’s especially skilled at writing hockey romance. And M/M romance. Now, when she combines the two? It feels like the sweetest magic. It’s highly addictive.

The New Guy has plenty of magic. What I love the most about it is how perfectly balanced it is. It’s emotional but not depressing. It’s funny and sweet but not too light. It has weight. It’s emotional and steamy, and the hockey is relevant and thrilling. It’s impossible to put down. It’s a 10 out of ten, would highly recommend for me.

The love story between Hudson and Gavin hits all the checkboxes for me. You have Hudson, the broody hockey player that has been traded too many times and desperately craves stability and a sense of belonging, so in order to prove his worth makes hockey his only priority. Then there’s Gavin, the widowed single dad who’s ready to move on and moves to Brooklyn on a whim to work for a hockey team as an athletic trainer.

I loved everything about The New Guy. You get a big dose of the Bruisers’ shenanigans and get to meet a few new characters as well. I thoroughly enjoyed Jordyn, Gavin’s seven year old daughter. She stole the show. I love how Sarina Bowen writes children, and I especially loved seeing Hudson and Jordyn together. They’re adorable.
