This book lacks the cleverness of a Salander novel. The characters vaguely resemble our old friends. Not a great story.

Sort of a letdown.

I’m a big fan of this series, this one was my least favorite so far. Davenport has chased some really interesting criminals in his career but he seems to be a small cog in the Gov wheel now. I don’t want to spoil the plot and I will continue to follow the series. Ferrone is as good as they get as narrater. Com’on man!

Would you try another book from Stephen King and/or Will Patton?

My favorite writer and one of my favorite readers, for some reason when Will changes tone for different characters he sort of gasps/whispers their line. I listen as I truck and you have to really turn up the volume to hear, then you are blasted by the normal tone. The sound level needs to be consistent.

If you’ve listened to books by Stephen King before, how does this one compare?

I enjoy this series.

Not his best effort

King is my favorite author. Without spoiling the story,there are too many holes. The force behind the evil is never revealed. The main character seems to take his time finding out how his young son is enduring armageddon. They walk several hundred miles while every car on the planet is available. I enjoyed the pace of the story, the reader was good, however the editing was terrible. You could clearly tell when he stopped reading and began anew. The pitch and tone and volume would change. I also heard words being dubbed into the recording. The production seemed to be racing toward a deadline instead of polishing this recording.I love King, he keeps things interesting, however this story is not what you expect from him. He did not finish this story. It ranks toward the bottom of his work to me.

The Master's Best Work

Well done. Jeffrey DeMunn does an terrific job performing this, the masters best work. The character developement by Stephen King makes each person so real that I not only knew them, I understood them and their imperfections, and I couldn't help but love them. I'd like to hang out with these guys. I just loved this book. I hope you do too.

Insightful Interview

Stephen King answers questions and explains the process he experienced writing "Bag of Bones". He is very generous with other writers as he talks about how he developes the different characters in his books. His love for reading as well as writing becomes evident. He also discusses the advantages of listening verses reading. If you are a fan of his, you probably love his art of painting the pictures as well as the off center reality he creates. The interview gave me a new perspective and a new appreciation of the art of writing. I hope you enjoy it too.
