Novel of reality
Revisado: 02-06-22
Life's ups and downs, feelings, emotions, our darkest fears and Life's joys are all here. While the story revolves around an unusual, but not impossible circumstance, I can relate to the emotions that the main character experiences. Trials and tribulations that we all experience during our lifetime.
This short story held my attention. I kept saying to myself, I can relate, I lived that. We are not alone,
there is someone our there has had that emotion.
The story was also enhanced with excellent narration.
PS. I went to the 1964 World's Fair.

Historia
Those on the side of progressing humanity through advanced technology have finally triumphed over their oppressors. The unholy war between the small but mighty island realm of Charis and the radical, luddite Church of God's Awaiting has come to an end. However, even though a provisional veil of peace has fallen over human colonies, the quiet will not last. For Safehold is a broken world, and as international alliances shift and Charis charges on with its precarious mission of global industrialization, the shifting plates of the new world order are bound to clash.

Exciting, humorous and tough to put down.
Revisado: 07-30-15
If you could sum up Beat the Reaper in three words, what would they be?
exciting, humorous, gory
Who was your favorite character and why?
The main character's mentor. He seems to know what to do in any situation.
Which scene was your favorite?
The girl with the bleeding knee.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The 'knife' fight at the end was a bit over the top and gory. Left me and my fiance, listening while driving, saying AAHHHH! and OOOO .
Any additional comments?
This story kept you listening and really enjoying it. The narrator of this story is one of the best I have heard to date. He was able to read the sarcasm in a way that just made you appreciate the tone of the character and the humor with it.
Loved the story, maybe a little to graphic in the gore department.
I think I will be looking for author and narrator in the future

Historia
Between April and July 1944, Truman Smith flew 35 bombing missions over France and Germany. He was only 20 years old. Although barely adults, Smith and his peers worried about cramming a lifetime's worth of experience into every free night, each knowing he probably would not survive the next bombing mission. Written with blunt honesty, wry humor, and insight, The Wrong Stuff is Smith's gripping memoir of that time.

Revisado: 03-31-15
What made the experience of listening to The Wrong Stuff the most enjoyable?
The way it was read kept it light while at several moments in the book it gave me pause to really think about how it was.
What about James Killavey’s performance did you like?
I believe he read in the spirit of author. Embellishing the humor the author conveys.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I could have.
Any additional comments?
History to me is always more interesting if you can hear it from one who was actually there when it happened.

Not one of his better stories.
Revisado: 03-31-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Better dialog and more action.
Has The First Confessor turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, but it did turn me off to read more of this series.
What about Kellie Fitzgerald’s performance did you like?
Narrator was fine and I think he did the best he could given the obvious, repetitive and boring dialog between characters.
What character would you cut from The First Confessor?
Not so much cut them but, make them more interesting.
