While I thoroughly loved the second book in the series the first book in the series was okay. The author works on the concept of unknown wormholes and does a good job building a story around that which she beautifully weaves into a second book. The first book struggles with character development to an extent. There is some stereotyping of mercenaries that too quickly devolve into nothing more than thugs without morals. what makes that kind of odd is they were hired by the main characters father to protect her. It is a good book but especially in light of how it lays the foundation for a very good second book. Performance was good.

I consider myself a science fiction reader, not a dystopian reader but decided to give this series a try. I have never really been a fan of dystopian stories but the author did a very good job of pulling me in. He develops a story that is far more than a "what if" theme. built around a man who is driven by guilt to try to rebuild his connections with his family, The story continues in a world that gets turned upside down. There are plenty of twists and challenges that keep the narrative moving along and holding the listeners attention.

An unfortunate stellar accident or is it something more? O.R. Lea pulls together a creative plot and weaves worthwhile characters into the story. It was an easy to follow story which left room for some twists, plots and unexpected developments. Two friends literally from different sides of the fence take on challenges presented by an organism falling to earth as well as those who are trying to secretly use the organism for their own benefit regardless of other potential problems. Natalie Hammond was a great voice talent for this book.

I'm guessing jumping into book 3 without having gone through the first two isn't a good thing. Science fiction is my first love when it comes to casual reading. For me, this is a story line I just could not follow. After trying 5 times, I gave up. I couldn't get a feel for which supporting characters were good, bad or otherwise. It was taking more work than I'd like to put into casual reading.

What if earth was influence by aliens who used humans for their projects and whims? I'm torn between giving credit for an interesting twist and a theme development which at times lacked depth and believability in the story. Is this a book I would likely pick up again? No. Was it worth going through once, maybe not. Some have obviously loved the story. Likely an underlying theme would be, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
