Historia
The world-renowned philosopher and author of the best-selling Justice explores the central question of our time: What has become of the common good? World-renowned philosopher Michael J. Sandel argues that to overcome the crises that are upending our world, we must rethink the attitudes toward success and failure that have accompanied globalization and rising inequality. Sandel shows the hubris a meritocracy generates among the winners and the harsh judgment it imposes on those left behind, and traces the dire consequences across a wide swath of American life.

I was looking for books for my teenage son that weren’t focused on violence or trauma. This book far exceeded my expectations. The characters were authentic and the dialogue was hilarious. The topics of sexual curiosity and cultural norms were well explored without being preach-y.
I have recommended this book to all of the parents of teens I know. Honestly, it’s pretty awesome for anyone but it specifically creates great conversation starters for talks between parents and teens.

While building the Virgin Group over 40 years, Richard Branson has never shied away from seemingly outlandish challenges that others (including his own colleagues on several occasions) considered sheer lunacy. He has taken on giants like British Airways and won, and monsters like Coca-Cola and lost. Now Branson gives an inside look at his strikingly different swashbuckling style of leadership.

Historia
Millions of Americans have lost confidence in our political and economic system. After years of stagnant wages, volatile job markets, and an unwillingness by those in power to deal with profound threats such as climate change, there is a mounting sense that the system is fixed, serving only those select few with enough money to secure a controlling stake. With the characteristic clarity and passion that has made him a central civil voice, Robert B. Reich shows how wealth and power have interacted to install an elite oligarchy, eviscerate the middle class, and undermine democracy.

Outstanding
Revisado: 02-27-21
I enjoyed listening to Mr. Reich's account of wealth inequality over the past 50 years in the US. However, the book does a slight disservice to Black and White Americans whose story in this country is entangled and complicated. Now, he does attempt to touch on this perspective in later chapters, however he should have gone more indepth. Thus, he falls short and drowns out their story by lumping all disenfranchised groups together. Bottom line, Americans with historical ties to this country dont want to be lumped in with new arrivals, for the reason he politely highlighted, they've been patiently waiting their turn.
Unfortunately, the documented and undocumented population do further the agenda of the oligarchy in the US by undermining the working class through cheap labor. I wish Mr. Reich would have been brave enough to speak the whole truth.

Historia
"We were eight years in power" was the lament of Reconstruction-era Black politicians as the American experiment in multiracial democracy ended with the return of white supremacist rule in the South. Now Ta-Nehisi Coates explores the tragic echoes of that history in our own time: the unprecedented election of a Black president followed by a vicious backlash that fueled the election of the man Coates argues is America's "first White president".

Historia
Imagine Bill Gates and Giorgio Armani started a business, then hired PT Barnum to promote it and Larry David to tell the story. The result is this book. Since starting SCOTTeVEST in 2000 - my clothing business built around tech-enabled pockets - I've been featured in thousands of major press pieces, made millions of dollars, and had the most memorable appearance of the entire ABC Shark Tank show. I started out as an unhappy lawyer, and I reinvented myself by pursuing my passions and mastering the art of passionate, personal promotion.

Inspiring for any entrepreneur!
Revisado: 01-04-16
If you could sum up Pocket Man in three words, what would they be?
Scott provides an excellent blueprint for brand promotion!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Pocket Man?
Scott's clever response to a demand from corporate attorneys that he pay their client's attorney fees. It was epic!
What about Kyle Brauch’s performance did you like?
Yes. However, after watching Scott Jordan on SharkTank and CNBC, he would've been able to narrate his own audio book.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. Yet, it provides too much quality information for one sitting.
