Historia
After 18 years of marriage, Kathy Walker has settled into a pattern of comfortable routines-ferrying her two teenagers between soccer practice and piano lessons, running a film production business with her husband, Robert, and taking care of the beautiful Boston home they share. Then one day, Kathy discovers a suspicious number on her husband's phone. Six years before, Kathy accused Robert of infidelity - a charge he vehemently denied - and almost destroyed their marriage in the process. Now Kathy must decide whether to follow her suspicions and risk of losing everything, or to trust.

Mostly good
Revisado: 10-24-24
It kept my attention just enough to not give up. It is a little slow. Read the description carefully. This book is about the details of an affair. Only the last 15 min were insightful.

Mystery, kept my interest
Revisado: 02-03-24
I liked the character development and consistency. Sometimes some events in a story are too jarring, but I was ok with this book. The little girl’s voice got on my nerves but narrated kid’s voices often do. I stayed interested throughout and didn’t foresee what would eventually happen. I’d definitely listen to this author and narrator again.

Wonderful
Revisado: 12-28-23
A truly wonderful book. The characters show us who they are in a most genuine way.
I like that the storyline has such a great arch and that there was suspense through out.
Listened for a second time. The first was 5 yrs. ago, I’d forgotten the details. I’m so glad I listened again.

Suspenseful
Revisado: 11-28-23
The sort is suspenseful, characters act true to their descriptions. It isn’t edge-of-my-seat type story for me but it may be because all but I character are much younger than me and sometimes I can’t relate.it could be a tad shorter in some descriptions. Very enjoyable.

Historia
Mia, the irreverent, hyperanalytical twenty-year-old daughter, has an explanation for everything—which is why she isn’t initially concerned when her father and younger brother Eugene don’t return from a walk in a nearby park. They must have lost their phone. Or stopped for an errand somewhere. But by the time Mia’s brother runs through the front door bloody and alone, it becomes clear that the father in this tight-knit family is missing and the only witness is Eugene, who has the rare genetic condition Angelman syndrome and cannot speak.

Too cerebral with disappointing ending
Revisado: 10-24-23
The title above says it all. There are too many explanations of philosophy, psychology and scientific terms and theories. It drug the story out. It’s all repetitive in other ways.
The promise of a mystery solved in an unexpected way kept me reading. I was disappointed.

Historia
In The Boy Who Followed Ripley, Highsmith explores Ripley's bizarrely paternal relationship with a troubled young runaway, whose abduction draws them into Berlin's seamy underworld. More than any other American literary character, Ripley provides "a lens to peer into the sinister machinations of human behavior." (John Freeman, Pittsburgh Gazette).

Highsmith’s Ripley, Superb Again
Revisado: 10-20-23
I love this character and the voice that narrates the Ripley series. Highsmith does such wonderful character development of each major player. And those that reappear from earlier works are consistent and kind, caring, self-centered and psychopathic through and through. Great twists and turns here, too.

I appreciate the interesting information about the thoughts and feelings of Emmon Bodfish, his son and actually, all involved. Their presentation as fallible human beings is also appreciated.

Historia
Vermont, 1972. Carole LaPorte has a satisfying, ordinary life. She cares for her children, balances the books for the family's auto shop, and laughs when her husband slow dances her across the kitchen floor. Her tragic childhood might have happened to someone else. But now her mind is playing tricks on her. The accounts won't reconcile and the murmuring she hears isn't the television.

Really enjoyed the experience
Revisado: 09-14-22
This book is not all happy-go- lucky, or an all-good-feelings kind of book. I still enjoyed it though because the characters are well developed, the storyline is not predictable and the characters seem so real. It wasn’t a story that I would say I could not put down. But it is the kind of story where I would think about the characters when I wasn’t listening. I look for books to take me away from my every day life and help me relax while I learn about other places and other people and their experiences, even fictionalized. This one was just that for me.
